Marc Veasey’s attempts to play the race card might work with cowardly Texas politicians but it won’t work with yours truly. After reading Karen Townsend’s post in which Marc Veasey’s fund-raising email stated “I’m going to be real honest with you, the Republican Party doesn’t want black people to vote…” it’s worth emphasizing that the turnout rate among blacks in the 2012 elections surpassed the white vote for the first time.

WASHINGTON (AP) — America’s blacks voted at a higher rate than other minority groups in 2012 and by most measures surpassed the white turnout for the first time, reflecting a deeply polarized presidential election in which blacks strongly supported Barack Obama while many whites stayed home.
The hardly TEA Party supporting Huffington Post expressed a similar sentiment here.
But let’s look at the rest of Marc’s fund-raising email, shall we?
The fund-raising email goes on to hilariously state “the Republican Party discounts communities of color at their own peril “…which is quite striking because as a member of the Congressional Black Caucus, surely Congressman Veasey knows how Houston-area politicians have discounted the residents of Houston’s Third Ward, content to see the rich history of the neighborhood wiped off the face of the city.
And why was Marc Veasey exploiting “communities of color” to fund raise? With $21,000 cash-on-hand, maybe he’s a little low on campaign cash and June 30th is the end of the Q2 2013 fund raising quarter.
Marc Veasey added up the cash in his campaign account & checked the date on the calendar. By doing so, we learned his race card rhetoric just doesn’t match reality.

Yeah, well we’ll see. There are two possible scenarios: 1) Zimmerman (you know, the “white latino”) will be found guilty by a jury of his peers, or 2) Zimmerman (you know, the “white latino”) will be found not guilty by a jury of his peers.
I can accurately predict the outcome in both cases:
1) People who think he’s innocent will complain very loudly then go about their daily lives with the understanding that, while the justice system isn’t always perfect, it works more often than it doesn’t. Mocha jesus will prattle on and on about how justice was served. And you’ll be here calling me silly names and pontificating on how this proves white people are racist.
2) People who think he’s guilty will riot and burn down their neighborhoods, pull innocent white people (maybe even some “white latinos”) out of their cars and beat them senseless. The usual racist worms like Sharpton and Jackson will crawl out of the woodwork inciting further violence. Mocha jesus will prattle on and on about how if he had a son… Quanny will be urging people to “go mug you some white folks”. And you’ll be here calling me silly names and pontificating on how this proves white people are racist.
It is becoming clear now, George Zimmerman will be found not guilty of murdering Trayvon Mar in. Life will go on pretty much as it did before the trial. Whites will still view tall skinny black young men with hoodies lurking around apartment complexes at night with suspicion. Blacks will still feel victimized and play the race card. There will be no burning down neighborhoods or pulling innocent people out of their cars and beating them senseless. And there will still be hypocrisy from all sides especially by the black commentators in the media who are too scared to report what this trial has accidentally exposed: black racism.
And yet, Trayvon’s parents traveled to Washington, D.C., where the Congressional Black Caucus described the killing as one of “racial bias.”
There were rallies in New York, Los Angeles, London, Chicago, Atlanta, Denver, Detroit, Toronto, Miami and elsewhere.
Thousands thronged to Sanford for rallies led by the Jackson and Sharpton, who warned that without an arrest, Sanford was “risking going down as the Birmingham and Selma of the 21st century.”
U.S. Rep. Corrine Brown helped persuade the U.S. Department of Justice to launch an investigation to determine whether Zimmerman had violated Trayvon’s civil rights. The agency has not announced its conclusions.
