The filing deadline has come and gone for candidates in the primaries. In the Harris County Republican Party Primary, there will be more than 30 contested races, depending on your location. As we reported earlier, we are trying to give voters an opportunity to compare the candidates in a free, non-biased way.
Here are the contested races where we have created comparison pages (the astute will notice that we didn’t bother in the Governor’s race – how many times should we talk about SECEDE Kilgore?).

You can click here to go to our main primary page. We will be updating the pages as we get more information, all candidates are encouraged to send in any additional information or corrections via our Contact Page. We are also trying to determine which slates should be included on the comparison matrices. If you have thoughts on this, you can either comment below or use the Contact Page. The goal is to have a comprehensive comparison for each contested race before early voting starts. If you see an error or a missed race, please let us know.

So, let’s see here. A candidate running against Stan Stanart filed after 6:00pm, but apparently County Chair Simpson accepted it because she was “in the door”. I hope his legal counsel is wiser than attorney Simpson. What’s that all about? When she filed, she was apparently silly enough to ask to file for both County Clerk AND her existing precinct chair position. Thankfully, HQ didn’t allow that too. Now, here’s another question. Why would anyone want to run against wonderful County Clerk Stan Stanart, and file at the last minute? Could it be because Stan’s wife, Gail Stanart, is running for State Rep against the husband of a politician, as well as a previous-loser judicial candidate? Could it be that by running a candidate against Stan, it might split Gail’s resources and time more. Is there someone so politically diabolical as to try these kinds of devious trickery? Who might that be? And then don’t forget, Valoree Swanson had a last minute “triple time gadfly” candidate file against her, as well the Democrat that lost to Valoree filed late too? Are these late filings related? Do they have a similar purpose? Who is behind it all? I guess we’ll just have to wait and see what comes out in the campaign ahead. Is this a candidate filing scandal waiting to explode?

I dissagree with this view. ONCE YOU ENTER THE DOOR before 6 pm and the deadline has come then the door is SHUT no one enters and all those on the inside is deemed to be on time except the office is running slow.
On election day is the same situation…
Door closes at 7 pm and everyone in the room their votes must count because they made it inside before the dead line.
