Fort Bend County Commissioners and the County Judge voted themselves a pay raise this past week but if you thought the local newspapers would write a story about it—well, you’d be wrong.
According to the August 11th regular session agenda, the proposed fiscal year 2016 salary for County Judge Hebert and the four County Commissioners—Andy Meyers, Richard Morrison, Grady Prestage and James Patterson will increase by 4.4{997ab4c1e65fa660c64e6dfea23d436a73c89d6254ad3ae72f887cf583448986}.
Judge Hebert’s annual salary is proposed to increase to $127,231. The County Judge also receives a $7200 supplement from the Juvenile Board. All four Commissioners and the County Judge also receive a $2400 supplement from the Drainage Board.
It sure is good to be the government king.
The salary of the four Commissioners is proposed to increase to $121,172.
The proposal calls for the Sheriff, County Attorney, Tax Assessor/ Collector, County Clerk, District Clerk, County Treasurer, all JP’s and all Constables to receive a 4.4{997ab4c1e65fa660c64e6dfea23d436a73c89d6254ad3ae72f887cf583448986} increase in their annual salary.
In 2013 the Fort Bend Herald posted a story in their online edition about proposed 9.4{997ab4c1e65fa660c64e6dfea23d436a73c89d6254ad3ae72f887cf583448986} salary increases for the Commissioners and 11.3{997ab4c1e65fa660c64e6dfea23d436a73c89d6254ad3ae72f887cf583448986} increases for county court and law judges.
A keyword search of The Fort Bend Star website turned up no stories written about salary increases for the County Judge or the four Commissioners.
