Fort Bend County Commissioner Richard Morrison identified a potential conflict of interest and voted against the County entering into a contract with Allen Boone Humphries Robinson as bond counsel.
Watch County Judge Hebert scold Commissioner Morrison for stating:
“Because of the lawsuit filed against us (Fort Bend County) by Firethorne and the fact this law firm is the MUD lawyer and was the corporate law firm for Firethorne in setting up the MUD– these conflicts are too important to waive on this case…”

The lawsuit is a real-property eminent domain case; JDC/ Firethorne LTD v Fort Bend County; Fort Bend Commissioners Court; Richard Stolleis, in His Capacity as Fort Bend County Engineer; and W. A. “Andy” Meyers, Individually, and in His Capacity as Fort Bend County Commissioner
The petition asserts Fort Bend County is impeding JDC Firethorne’s ability to move forward with its master-planned, single family development, accusing Fort Bend County of “backing out of a binding settlement agreement reached at mediation resolving all claims arising from this dispute and signed by Commissioner Andy Meyers and County Attorney Roy Cordes, Jr.”
Who said watching the Commissioners Court meetings is boring?
