Following the murder of San Antonio Police Detective Benjamin Marconi on Sunday, President-elect Donald Trump called the detective’s son in a private call with no fanfare.
President-elect Donald Trump offered his condolences to the family of slain SAPD Det. Benjamin Marconi Monday, his son said.
Dane Gregory Marconi posted a Facebook status Monday evening that read: “Just got off the phone with the future president Trump, he sends his condolences to our family,” according to a post made by Annie Patterson Campos, who lists herself as a crime scene investigator for the San Antonio Police Department on her account. Campos’ post has since garnered 500 shares and hundreds of likes.
Well done, President-elect Trump. Hopefully this sends a signal that cop killers will not be coddled or emboldened under the new administration.
Trump’s actions are in sharp contrast to those of President Obama when cops are killed.
As he flew to Dallas Tuesday to pay tribute to five slain police officers, President Obama called the families of two black men who were shot and killed by police last week.
Mr. Obama called the families of Alton Sterling in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and of Philando Castile, who was killed last week in Falcon Heights, Minnesota, “to offer his and the first lady’s condolences on behalf of the American people,” the White House said.
This is a ridiculous comparison. Obama personally attended services for the 5 officers slain in Dallas.
Or, is this all about the fact that he called the families of two black men killed by police?
Let me refresh your memory.
“Ramsey County Attorney John Choi announced during a Wednesday morning press conference that officer Jeronimo Yanez will face three charges for shooting and killing Philando Castile on July 6.”
It does not “embolden” or “coddle” cop-killers to give a sympathy call to a man who did absolutely nothing wrong, was lawfully exercising his 2nd Amendment rights, and was killed by a trigger-happy police officer. There are plenty of things to criticize Obama for (and like you, I am counting down the days to January 20), but this simple act of human decency is not one of them.
“Private call without fanfare”, really?
Why am I reading it here?
So, if Trump himself does not make the affair public, it is private?
Trump is a master of manipulation of the media.
In three years or less, I expect that many Trump supporters will be regretting their vote. We but have to wait and see if I am correct.
I am not a fan of Trump, but his was phone call was spot on, and exactly what our country needs.
To: neither here no there , its no act of magic or genius to predict that a politician will lie and deceive us and that we will be let down. That’s the way partisan politics work here in America. Trump will conform to the mainstream status quo that they all do. None of them are special or different and certainly don’t believe that they are really the ones running our country. oops did I our country?
BTW I did vote for President Elect Trump because I really hated the idea of the alternative. But as you can see he is already faltering and putting people like Rick Perry a career politician and professional liar and manipulator in key positions instead of independent people that are not influenced by the alligators in the proverbial swamp that he vowed to drain. so you see its all an illusion and it’s just business as usual .
