David Dewhurst, Lt. Governor of the State of Texas
It is our great honor to invite you to join us in welcoming the Lt. Governor of the State of Texas, the Honorable David Dewhurst, to the Greater Houston Pachyderm Club!
Don’t miss this meeting. Texas has never had a more qualified public servant managing the affairs of the Texas Senate. A native Houstonian, David Dewhurst is a proud veteran, businessman, rancher and devoted family man. He has served as Texas Lieutenant Governor since 2003.
After college, Dewhurst entered the U.S. Air Force, where he served as an Intelligence Officer. He continued his service to our nation as a Clandestine Services Case Officer with the Central Intelligence Agency overseas. In the 1990s, David served on the U.S. Commission on the Roles and Capabilities of the United States Intelligence Community. Years later, he was appointed Chairman of the Governor’s Task Force Committee on Homeland Security in the wake of 9/11, where he helped structure Texas’ defense against terrorism.
After leaving the CIA, David returned to Houston and built his own business from the ground up. Initially successful, David and his company were hit hard by the 1980s oil and real estate bust. Though David was beaten up, he never gave up. Soon, his company, Falcon Seaboard, was a thriving energy and investments firm.
Gov. Dewhurst is a steadfast fiscal conservative and stands tall for Texas. Please join us for this extra-special meeting of the Greater Houston Pachyderm Club.

Deer Park Candidate Forum
Time: 6:30pm – 8:30pm
Place: La Quinta Inn & Suites Deer Park, 1400 East Blvd, Deer Park TX 77536-1855 (map)
With less than a month left before Deer Park residents elect positions 1, 2, 3 and a new Mayor, many may feel like they don’t know the candidates. They will have a chance to learn more on Wednesday, April 24, when a candidates’ forum will be hosted by the Clear Lake Area Republicans, a Political Action Committee.
President Daniel McCool says the idea is to interview candidates for the job they are running for. This forum is one of several the group is planning for local elections and is part of their “outreach and educational” program.
“I just want the voters to be informed,” he said.
McCool said candidates who sign up to attend will be staged in a green room off to the side of the main meeting room where they will eventually be selected the old fashioned way: by drawing straws. The winner of the straw drawing will be the first to be interviewing alone in front of voters and host members.
While there will be a moderator, a slide show/voiced audio program will administer the questions to each candidate to keep it consistent. Each candidate will be given 1-3 minutes — depending on the question — to respond.
Each candidate will be asked six different questions ranging from questions specific to Deer Park issues, along with general questions designed to ferret out each candidate’s thoughts on social and fiscal issues. Questions will not be solicited from the audience.
Residents will get their chance to meet candidates for council and mayor, Wednesday, April 24, from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the La Quinta Inn, located at 1400 East Boulevard.

That last event in Deer Park should be fun. I had a cup of coffee with Council Candidate Bennie Boles last week and will post something about it tomorrow. Thanks to Daniel for hosting the event.

Is it true that D.A. Mike Anderson has started pretrial diversions for D.W.I.s ? This is what he campaigned against isn’t it?
