Greg, best of luck with this event. Did you see where Beto announced yesterday? Could get interesting. I know your stance on abortions but that is not where most Texans are. This issue alone could doom Abbott. He also wounded himself with the gun law. More Texans probably agree with Beto than with Abbott on guns. It’s going to be hard to handcuff Beto with the border issue especially since he’s from there and is fluent in Spanish. Look for south Texas to swing back Democrat. And then there is the grid thing. Shockingly, the donations to Abbots campaign from the energy boys hasn’t gotten the buzz it deserves, but it will. Take care

Beto ‘Francis’ O’Rourke ain’t going to make it for you Loren.
Greg Degeyter says
Thank you Loren. With twin infants and a severely disabled child finding someone willing to babysit to allow us to go is always a significant challenge.
The Governor’s race is going to be a test of how well Abbott can campaign. He has to manage a revolt not just to his right, but also with center-right individuals like me who are very displeased with the past two years. He can’t tack too far right to put down the revolt or risk losing the moderates who tend to ticket split.
Beto is going to annoy people like crazy with his texting campaign. I get why people do it – in my school board run there was a distinct uptick in web page activity when I sent out text blasts. A 35k text blast generated as much web activity as posting in a Facebook group with 17k members. The difference is almost no one in the general public knew who I was, and everyone knows who Beto is, so it won’t have nearly the value. He runs the risk of alienating voters with the contacts if he does it like he did before.
Abbott is a much better campaigner than Cruz. It’s going to create a different dynamic in the race compared to his race against Cruz. I’m not sure Beto is going to be able to keep it close and/or amp up turnout like he did last time, but if he’s become a better campaigner he has a puncher’s chance.

I look forward to hearing Chadwick’s talk on his red pill moment. I see him often on Fox News, sometimes in Gutfeld, but usually on with Tucker Carlson.

With regard to Abbott, he needs to go. It was his appointees and flunkies at the PUC that not only presided over the blackout, but artificially and intentionally spiked wholesale electric prices for 4 straight days, a move that cost so much money that bonds had to be issued, and rate payers will be paying significantly higher electric prices for YEARS….all for 4 days of gross mismanagement. Add to that his Wu flu mandate crap that culminated in the arrest and imprisonment of a Dallas hair stylist and….Abbott needs to go.
Everyone here needs to make their choice….Huffines or West, but Abbott ought to be considered a dead stick. As to Beto, I can’t see how any kind of non rigged election in Texas would see a Beto win. His Howard Dean moment about ‘Hell yeah, we’re going to take your guns’ was the double tap to the head of his political career. And with respect to the border, after it being wide open for, really, as long as we’ve been a country, those border denizens finally got to see what doing something to stop the illegals looked like, and now they get to compare what they have now, not only a wide open border, but a friggen’ welcome mat for illegals from all over the world.
The people in the Valley are tired of it. So when you lose largely Hispanic counties because of your shitty policies…..um, clue phone….it’s for you, Beto. I don’t care how well you speak Spanish.

With regard to the Log Cabin folks, we should be welcoming to them, as much as is practical. For instance, I disagreed with the R Party leadership not allowing them to rent a table at the state convention. Let them rent the table! I suspect it’s mostly leftist gays that are pushing recruitment of kids into the lifestyle, and other things that I and other normal Americans would oppose.
Look at Ric Grennell…..yeah, he’s gay, but I don’t recall him pushing or promoting that, he just competently did the jobs that Trump gave him. Closer to home, I remember 1st term Anise Parker as mayor, just trying to competently lead the city and not push her homosexual agenda. I’m fine with that. Of course, she lost me when, in her last term, she did start overtly pushing the agenda, and I vociferously disagreed with that.
