Log Cabin Republicans of Houston Supports Equal Rights Ordinance
Houston, TX (April 23rd, 2014)-
The Log Cabin Republicans of Houston applauds Mayor Parker’s plans to introduce the upcoming Equal Rights Ordinance. The ordinance is a significant step to promote the economic development of Houston. The great city of Houston is currently experiencing an economic highpoint, and it would be well served by protecting its workforce from incidents of discrimination. This proposal is good policy which will move Houston forward into the 21st century.
The history of the Republican Party has been one of supporting equal treatment of all people before the law, including supporting the civil rights movement for Black Americans, women suffrage, and the 1964 civil rights act. It is in this same vein that we today urge all city council members and citizens of Houston to support this important step for our city.

It’s great to see this group becoming active and engaged. And pretty awesome to see Congressman Ted Poe supporting them.
Ed Vidal says
If the Houston Log Cabin Republicans support Mayor Parker’s LGBT “Equality” legislation, then they cannot claim to be limited-government conservatives, because this legislation will unleash a stream of litigation against small and medium-sized businesses in Houston.
If they trust their fellow citizens, then they will not seek this legislation; but if they seek this legislation, then they will have put their trust in Caesar, and his local rep Pontius Pilate. Compounding sinful practices with pagan enforcement will not help their cause.
During the Stonewall incidents in 1969, homosexuals wanted to be left alone; any conservative would have to agree, and even defend them against government oppression. Now, they want our approval, with litigation threatened if withheld. This is not the way to live and let live.
The Log Cabin Republicans should withdraw their support of Mayor Parker’s proposed legislation, and if not, then they should change their name to the Log Cabin RINOs.
