From the Harris County Republican Party:
Today, Harris County Democrats proved the 2020 Democrat presidential candidates are too far left for Texas.
In advance of the Houston debate this week, local Democrats on Commissioners Court broke with 2020 presidential Democrats and their support for the radical $93 trillion Green New Deal.
There’s no denying that the oil and gas industry is critical to Harris County. That’s why Judge Lina Hidalgo, Commissioner Adrian Garcia, and Commissioner Rodney Ellis, joined Republicans today in signing a resolution in support of the hundreds of thousands of jobs and economic and energy security the oil and gas industry provides to the region.
The resolution introduced by Commissioner Jack Cagle also recognizes the U.S. oil and natural gas industry as the leading investor in zero- and low-carbon technology, “investing $108.2 billion in greenhouse gas mitigating technologies between 2000-2016.”
Meanwhile, instead of working with the industry to save jobs and reduce emissions, out-of-touch 2020 Democrats have pledged to eliminate all fossil fuels and destroy the “Energy Capital of the World.”

A great resolution and good to see the Democratic commissioners join their Republican colleagues.

As many oil companies that have offices in downtown Houston and the billionaires that live there and pay high taxes, the commissioners had no choice. They would be stupid to bite the hand that feeds them. If they chase off the ”rich, white folks”, all they’ll have left are the homeless and the freeloaders.
