Last week’s NRA Convention brought a record 86,228 attendees to the George R. Brown Convention in Houston and, to kick off the excitement among Second Amendment civil freedom-lovers, Thursday May 2nd served as a “Jerry Patterson for Lieutenant Governor” double-header day Downtown.
Current Land Commissioner Jerry Patterson spoke to a full house of Downtown Pachyderm Club members & guests, recounting the story of his election to statewide office, first as a State Senator for District 11 and then to Texas Land Commissioner in 2002. Jerry’s most significant Legislative successes include passage of the historic concealed handgun law, a history of which can be found here.
Later that evening, as advertised on BJP, about 100 Republican precinct chairs & CHL instructors got up close & personal with Jerry as he enthusiastically shared his now-infamous BBQ pit story while serving as State Senator representing District 11:
Folks, BJP is publishing stories on Harris County & Fort Bend County-area events where you can meet (often for free!) candidates running for local, county and statewide races AND learn about activists and businesses making an impact in our communities. There’s no excuse for sitting on your keester over the next two years!

It was good to see you there, Yvonne. Jerry is always good for a funny story and ties it into something of substance, like the 2nd Amendment.
