Obviously this was planned before the Astros knew that they would be hosting the Boston Red Sox in the ALCS that night. Hey, make lemonade out of lemons – since the GOTV rally is from 6 pm – 7 pm, combine it with a watch party and show the game on the big screen! I’m sure that Gov. Abbott’s campaign would be happy to sponsor the hot dogs! Get a band together to sing “Take me out to the ball game” and “Deep in the heart of Texas” and it’d be just like being in the stadium except surrounded by fellow Republicans! And eating free hot dogs!
I think the timing is perfect since Houston Chronicle columnist Erica Grieder has continued her tirade against Republican men. I mean, she actually said this in her column this past Saturday:
Republicans, collectively, think men should be forgiven for sexual assault — as long as they’re Republicans.
She followed that up with a column yesterday titled:
Republican women have more leverage than GOP leaders acknowledge
Seriously? I get that she doesn’t like the President, the Governor, the Lt. Governor and the TX Attorney General but saying that collectively Republicans don’t give a whit about sexual assault? And then the bizarre statement that Republican women don’t know the leverage that they have? Who does she think turned Texas Red in the first place? Ever heard of the hundreds of Republican Women’s clubs around the state? Eagle Forum? The policies that Ms. Grieder and the left hate are in the platform because of women. Abortion? Women led that charge every bit as much as any man. Second amendment? Border control? All equally supported by Republican women.
So, perfect timing for this rally. Don’t worry, you won’t see an unruly mob. You’ll see motivated, passionate Republican women that care about their state and their families. Men included.

But I thought Erica Grieder was objective and a welcome addition to the Chron.

I certainly called that one wrong.

We have a lot repubs that are not conservative and claim they are. Unfortunately Mr. Culberson has evolved into one these incumbents. Like Kevin Brady. Like Pete Sessions.
I’m basically down to two issues. Sovereignty and fiscal accountability. And guess what? cutting federal funding of abortions via Planned Parenthood fits nicely into one of my remaining categories of concern. So does removing the 25 or so welfare benefit programs from Dept. of Ag funding.
These senior barnacles seem to have no trouble running deficits as high as Nancy Pelosi could ever dream of. They refuse to fund border security. Who are their constituents outside of the Chamber of Commerce that also wants open borders and tax cuts with no spending reductions? At some point they need to be picked off. Now is a dangerous time to do so but thankfully we have pretty good cover with DJT. If I were in Culberson’s district I would have a hard time being anything other than an undercount. I don’t hate the guy but he no longer represents enough of what is important to me.
