She gets this one wrong right out of the gate, first sentence in the first paragraph (this one is relatively clean):
A few months ago, Leo Vasquez, outgoing GOP, County Tax Assessor and Collect — voter registrar, got on the local wingnut radio stations, KPRC and KTRH to whine about people turning in bad voter registration forms.
Well, I guess if you have some weird definition of “A few months ago”, you could consider the 1 month and 1 day (press conference – 8/24, ranting blog post – 9/25) time frame as “A few months ago”. A stretch but in some parallel universe it might be okay. But not even in that parallel universe would a press conference in the offices of the Tax Assessor Collector qualify as “got on the local wingnut radio stations”. Besides which, she didn’t mention 90.1 KPFT. Talk about some wingnuts! And yes, they did mention the story on Houston Vote’s sloppy work and self-admitted fraud.
Then she proceeds to give her reader a “back story”. Hard to give background on a story when you are clueless about said story but try she does.
Paul Bettencourt had been the longtime Tax Assessor/collector and had for years been cleansing the voter roles and slow walking new registrations, like any good GOP vote-suppressor. After winning in 2008 (and settling a lawsuit brought against him and his office), he decided to quit.
It is hard to take someone with a complete inability to grasp time seriously. Mr. Bettencourt did not settle the lawsuit before he quit, that task was handed off to Leo Vasquez, who managed to settle it quite favorably in October 2009, despite opposition from his own attorney, Democrat Vince Ryan.
Then she goes off ranting about Tea Party members in general, current Tax Assessor Collector candidate Don Sumners, and Catherine Engelbrecht, head of King Street Patriots and True the Vote. She can’t help herself, continually using the obscure term for an sex act between two homosexual males to describe everyday, ordinary citizens. Once again, I’m at a loss to explain how all these leftist bloggers became so familiar with such an obscure term.
Let’s see. Catherine is a “wing nut extraordinaire”, believes in the 10th Amendment, and is worried about fraud in the November elections. Well, frankly, Catherine is an extraordinary woman, she does believe in the Constitution, and yes, she is concerned about fraud in the election. Hmm. I bet this angry, bitter, vile, vulgar, leftist blogger is also ticked off that Catherine is very attractive, poised, self-confident, smart, organized, and driven. I’ll take one Catherine Engelbrecht over a thousand of these little angry, guilt ridden leftists any day of the week.
Then she repeats a flat out lie:
The Texas Democratic Party has sued Leo Vasquez for once again sharing information with Engelbrecht and her friends while not sharing the same with the TDP.
At NO TIME did King Street or True the Vote have access to ANYTHING that this vile woman could not have accessed if she knew how to file open records requests.
Let’s just state the facts once again: Leo Vasquez did not try to suppress voter registration, he made increasing voter registration a priority of the office. Catherine Engelbrecht and True the Vote used public information to develop their complaints. Period.
One other thing about this particular non-Top Houston political blogger is that she is completely obsessed with talk show host Michael Berry. She even thinks he shouldn’t have adopted a child.
