Last week, Texas Lt. Governor David Dewhurst told Texas Senators that voter ID would be brought before the legislative body on Monday January 25th. The objective is to have the Senate vote on the measure before the end of next week.
The Houston Chronicle reported :
“Late Thursday, Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst notified senators that he would bring up voter ID on Monday, with Sen. Robert Duncan, R-Lubbock, presiding over the Senate meeting as a committee of the whole”.
Even John Whitmire has succumbed to the inevitable:
“It’s kind of a foregone conclusion what the outcome is going to be.”
The Committee has designated the meeting as “Public”. The Senate convenes Monday at 1:30 pm and again Tuesday at 8:00 am if you’re interested in attending. The Houston Chronicle left that information OUT of the article.
And to the Texas Republicans and Democrats who think of citizen activists in terms of “this too shall pass”, we are watching not just WHAT gets posted on the House, Senate and other committee calendars but also WHEN you post it.
And we’ve signed up for email alerts, too!
