The Texas Constitution bars the State Legislature from taking up bills within the first 60 days of a session, unless the issue is authorized by the Governor.

The first day to apply for a ballot by mail is Tuesday March 15th, 2011.
The last day to register in the municipal elections, according to the Harris County Clerk’s office (see Stan’s new picture!) to vote is Thursday April 14th, 2011.
The first day of early voting by personal appearance is Monday May 2nd, 2011.
The municipal elections take place May 14th, 2011.
Voter ID would prevent dead people, illegal aliens, felons and under-age high school students from voting in the May elections, which are less than 4 months away.
Yup, it’s an emergency all right.
