One of the new Republican groups in Harris County, the Lone Star Republicans, is having a Back to School Rally on Thursday, August 8th, from 5 pm until 7 pm. Organizer Tom Zakes put together a similar event last year and had over a hundred people show up.
The main purpose of the event is to distribute school supplies to children in the Galena Park ISD elementary and middle schools. Here is a list of items needed:
- pencils
- pens
- pencil pouches
- rulers
- composition books
- boxes of tissue
- erasers
- hand held pencil sharpeners
- filler paper
- index cards
- glue sticks
- glue
There will be hot dogs and plenty of elected officials and candidates on hand for you to meet. The rally will be held at the Alvin Baggett Community Center, 1302 Keene Street, Galena Park. Click here for a map.
Tom and the rest of the board of the Lone Star Republicans are working hard in an area overlooked by Harris County Republicans for a long time.
