C.O. Clarence Bradford is our former Chief of Police and a current Houston City Councilman. I call him Chief. To say that he has been critical of some of the Mayor’s actions is an understatement. No doubt that good government comes through comprehensive debate and Chief offers just that – careful consideration. Unfortunately, Mayor Parker does not seem to appreciate someone questioning her leadership.

Mayor Parker has a history of recruiting candidates to run against her perceived foes. And, Chief Bradford is no exception. Each election cycle, Chief has drawn an opponent; however, he has crushed them each time and this election will be no exception.

Issa Dadoush, a former city employee, has filed to run against Chief in the November election. Dadoush waited until the last minute of the last day to file for this race. So the question is when you are in a rush do you forget where you live? Apparently, Dadoush was unaware that a candidate must live in Houston because Dadoush listed his home address as the City of Pasadena.

I guess this is the Parker exception for Pasadena because we know that she does not approve of Piney Point residents. I seem to remember a certain Mayoral candidate, Ben Hall, vilified by the Houston Chronicle for previously owning a home in Piney Point.

Of course, Ben Hall now lives in Houston. So, how will the Chronicle handle a candidate who files for a Houston election and lists a Pasadena address? No, folks you cannot make this up.
