It's a shame that there is no true opposition party in Texas. The best the Texas Democratic Party can do is to hire laborers and bus them to various Republican Town Halls, trying to disrupt them. Disrupt them they may but convert anyone attending? Not a chance. Let me tell you what happened at Rep. Pete Olson's Town Hall in Clear Lake yesterday.
First off, remember that the temperatrue in Houston tied an all-time high yesterday at 109 degrees. And still, between 350 and 400 citizens took the time to attend a meeting held by their congressman on a hot Saturday afternoon. That is remarkable in and of itself. Even more remarkable is that they remained calm, cool, and collected in spite of union organizers disrupting the meeting. The mere fact that a little twerp ffrom Montrose wasn't pulverized tells you that these people are more interested in changing the government than they are worried about fruitcakes.
I'm not sure if the twerp from Montrose was with the union organizers or not. what I am sure of is that, while he was able to disrupt the meeting and deprive honest citizens the opportunity to participate in democracy, his actions only served to steele the resolve of those that attended. That resolve being to replace the idiot that twerps like the jerk Saturday put in the White House.
And that is a very, very good thing. Keep it up, moron.
Normally, I'd have a report about what the Congressman said. I can tell you that ALL of his themes were well received by everyone in attendance except the Astroturfers. Huge applause resounded when he said that everyone should pay taxes, not just 50{997ab4c1e65fa660c64e6dfea23d436a73c89d6254ad3ae72f887cf583448986} of us. Unfortunately, the sound in the Clear Lake High School wasn't the greatest in the world and as noted, one twerp kept interrupting. Here is a short audio clip which is representative of the meeting:
[audio:http://www.bigjollypolitics.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/08/pete-olson-question-9.mp3|titles=Pete Olson audience question 9]Pete handled the okay but I was wishing that this was a Rep. Gene Green event. No one handles idiots better than Gene Green. Rep. Green would have had the guy escorted out of the building. I understand Pete's reluctance to do that and his point about everyone having the same constitutional rights to attend the meeting. But I disagree with Pete that one jerk has the right to keep 400 citizens from listening to an update from their congressman. And I assure you, after attending a dozen or so town halls held by Rep. Gene Green, that jerk would have been long gone after the first dozen interruptions.
Like I said, I'm not sure if the ponytailed, hoop earring wearing twerp was with the Astroturf union organizers or not. But methinks he was because there is only one ponytailed earring wearing twerp that lives in CD-22 and I happen to know him. And this twerp twern't him.
What we had yesterday was your basic union Astroturf play, with a twist. This time there were two buses brought in, one for the Latinos that couldn't speak English and one for the Blacks that didn't want to sit with the Latinos. Yeah, I said it. And I have pictures to prove it. You want integration? Stay away from the Texas Organizing Project because they want nothing to do with it. Just check out the photo slide show below or visit the Flickr page that I uploaded to. The only KumBayYa moment you'll see is when the organizers met breifly by the buses – they damn sure didn't get in each other's bus. What is interesting is that the blacks got on the illegal bus (the one with no license plates or markings of identification) and the Latinos that told me they didn't speak English got on the legal bus. Go figure.
I've been trying to ID this guy since I left the meeting to no avail:
The picture on the left is from a John Culberson Town Hall when he brought a few Astroturfers with signs. The middle picture is from yesterday inside the Pete Olson Town Hall. The picture on the right is him getting on the bus reserved for blacks. Please, someone tell me his name! He's obviously a "community organizer" for the Texas Organizing Project but he wouldn't give me his name.
What happened yesterday is wrong on many levels. First, as noted, the simple fact that the Texas Democratic Party has to pay people to attend meetings. That is sad. Second, paying people to disrupt meetings so that honest citizens cannot hear their congressman. Third, and most egregious, is having to watch the segregation between blacks and Latinos. No wonder more and more blacks and Latinos are running from the Democratic Party and to the Republican Party, where all are welcome. And I guarantee you that you will not find Republicans paying for seperate buses in order to segregate by race. Shameful, that.
But you know what? I hope they keep it up. Heck, I hope they expand it! You know why? Because it is the best motivational tool that I can think of to convince people to get out and work for Republican candidates. There was, as always, a good contingent of Clear Lake Tea Party members in attendance yesterday. I guarantee you that the shameful display put on yesterday by Democrats will serve to increase their membership. They will tell their neighbors, who will tell their neighbors, who will tell their neighbors…you get the idea. And not only will we get rid of that abomination in the White House in 2012, we'll get rid of even more Democrats in Harris County. Anyone remember what Jack Morman did to Slyvia Garcia? I can't wait for more of those "unexpected" victories.
So, a big thank you to the twerp and the Astroturf. And the blacks that didn't want to sit by the Latinos. I do wish you well, and I mean that sincerely. Please, please, disrupt even more Republican Town Halls. Hey, for good measure, why not disrupt Fernando Herrera's events as he runs for Mayor of Houston?
Pretty please? I'll be there to take your picture! Promise.
