HCRP Chairman Jared Woodfill, CD-29 candidate Roy Morales and Chairman Steele spoke in front of 75-100 folks. Roy Morales said he’d pledge to repeal Obamacare, vote against all legislation that looks like Cap and Tax, provide for tax relief and ensure government stops the wasteful spending our money. He also gave an assurance to keeping our refineries & borders secure and that he’d say no to amnesty, plus support English as our official language. Of course the crowd roared and applauded in approval.
Roy then spent about two minutes introducing Chairman Steele as a self-described Lincoln Republican and the first African-American elected to a statewide office (Lt Governor) in that state (Maryland).
Chairman Steele told us we were pumped, energized and after someone in the crowd shouted the “Fire Pelosi” and “get Rid of Harry Reid” slogans he told us that we’ve got the whole message and it was great to be back in Texas. He asked us to think about where we were a year ago, frustrated with a party that moved away from principles, declared we’re stronger, leaner, faster , smarter and ready to kick some Democratic you -know -what . He thanked us for what we’re doing, thanked the County Chairman whose wife just had a baby and told Jared that he’d ”delivered a new Republican , now you have to deliver victory this November”.
Chairman Steele announced “I’ve gotten to know Roy; you can’t find a more prepared person, he really gives a damn about this community” and asserted it’s important to have leadership that is prepared, that he’s struck by Jefferson’s “when people fear the government there is tyranny, when government fears the people there is liberty” quote and that “y’all gonna put a whole lotta fear in government” .
Steele continued his HCRP rally cry with a “help make Rick Perry Governor” statement. The Sarah Davis supporters enthusiastically chanted “Sarah, Sarah, Sarah”. Steele hugged a bashful Sarah and she said “Welcome to District 134”. Steele asked “Are you ready to win? “ Sarah seemed embarrassed that she was still in her campaign t-shirt. She had been out block-walking in the morning.
The “Fire Pelosi” bus rally at this point became the “RNC supports Roy Morales for Congress and Sarah Davis for District 134” bus rally. I mean, it’s about time the RNC turned their attention to Houston, right? And where were the screaming Roy Morales supporters for this storied event? Would the bus stop at the Eastside office, too?
By the way, if someone can help me get the dang video of this event off my Droid 2 so y’all can see it I’d be grateful. 21st century technology in the hands of a 51 year old, y’know? It’s too large of a file for me to upload to YouTube directly from my phone.
The events’ been marketed as a “Fire Nancy Pelosi” gathering. The group was already fired up by the very-real prospect of terminating Harry Reid as Senate Majority Leader. Roy Morales had already remarked that Gene Green had a more liberal voting record than Sheila Jackson-Lee. The Faulk supporters (Ron and I among them!) are by now openly wondering why in the world Steele’s made no mention of Sheila Jackson-Lee yet.
I think I already know the answer to this.
Steele invigorated things a bit as he broadcast to the assembled. “Stan, Sarah, Roy; you know the team”. And in the background someone shouted “Faulk, John Faulk”.
Another person whispered “Hello? He’s not mentioned Faulk, does he know who John Faulk is?”
Steele further said “we need you to focus on the matter at hand”, “we will not allow Harry Reid to take from us the liberties that allow us to run our business” and “we don’t need the heavy hand of government”.
Someone shouted “we don’t need Sheila’s mouth either“.
That guy sure was right.
Sheila Jackson-Lee addressed the House of Representatives in March 2010 screeching she had the dis-honor of being a member of Congress representing the State of Texas.

Steele made some garbled comment about Sheila and the attendees launched into a raucous laughter.
Then the Faulk supporters chanted “John Faulk, John Faulk, John Faulk, John Faulk, John Faulk”.
Michael Steele went on to plug the “Pledge to America” and praised Kevin McCarthy (R-CA), gave a shout-out to Steve Munistieri, the Chairman of the Republican Party of Texas and exclaimed “Yes, we stand with the Tea Party in electing Christine O’Donnell”.
I turned off my camera.
We’ve got a lot of work to do folks; enough for the rest of our lifetimes.
November is just the beginning; they just don’t get it.
