RLCCD36 BACKS MEYER FOR CD 36 RACE, GIVES A NOD TO NORMAN AND ENGSTRAND
01/14/2014
The Republican Liberty Caucus of CD 36 has officially endorsed Chuck Meyer in the Congressional District 36 race.
We believe Chuck Meyer to be the most qualified candidate for the liberty movement. Since the last campaign in 2012, Chuck has remained very active and involved in the district. Chuck’s presence was noticed at most events throughout the district from Orange to Liberty and Harris Counties, even during the off season. Also, Chuck has personally attended several RLC functions in the past couple of years. Moreover, Chuck has exhibited a commitment to personal and fiscal freedom in rhetoric and conversation.
This decision was by no means an easy one. Of the 12 seeking the office, the caucus reviewed surveys submitted by 8 of the candidates. Based only on the candidate’s responses to the board, three candidates exhibited a strong understanding of liberty principles and limited government. The board went further than the surveys to make the final decision and spoke with all three men in person and watched two of them speak to an audience at two meetings, the Liberty County Republican Party and the Tri County Tea Party. Along with Chuck Meyer, the RLC Board considered Dave Norman and Col. Jim Engstrand. We believe Dave Norman is a great candidate and surely won’t go un-noticed among both conservatives, as well as liberty republican voters. Also, Col. Jim Engstrand espoused a more liberty view compared to the others in the race. He is will likely be heavily favored by social conservatives in the liberty movement.
Further, it is the belief of this caucus should either of these other men make the runoff other than Meyer, we will gladly support them.
The RLCCD36 maintains all the surveys and they can be viewed upon request.
As always, vote your conscience. Know your candidates.
