I doubt it but stranger things have happened. Who’d a thunk that Harris County Tax Assessor Collector Mike Sullivan would sit down to lunch with a guy that has advocated to kill the very people that voted for Sullivan? From Yvonne Larsen:
Texas State Democratic Executive Committee member John Cobarruvias who advocated the murder of NRA President David Keene. John’s death threats were reported on conservative blog sites such as Rhymes With Right, Michelle Malkin, PJ Media, and Breitbart, in addition to the Michael Berry and Sean Hannity radio shows.
…
John’s history includes disrespecting Texas Attorney General Abbott back in March 2010 when he called for the AG to “get off his ass and take a stand” and issuing a 2011 threat to “billy club” Texas State Representative Debbie Riddle for her stance on requiring photo ID at the polls.
So I was quite surprised to learn Texas Republican and Harris County Tax Assessor- Collector Mike Sullivan “bloglunched” with John Cobarruvias and Scrambled Brains & Lobotomized Eggs.
Not to mention that the guy wanted to shoot King Street Patriots poll watchers or Put a cap in their ass!
Now why do you think Sullivan would do that? Simply “being non-partisan about the discharge of electoral responsibility” as suggested by Lobotomized Eggs? Doubtful since the meeting only included Democrats – last I heard, non-partisan meant you didn’t single out one party. And the party was scheduled by Sullivan’s new communications guy – a guy that Sullivan borrowed from Houston Mayor Annise Parker. So no, I’m not buying the “discharge of electoral responsibility” line. But it is a good line.
I think Sullivan sees the writing on the wall. I tried to warn fellow Republicans but I suppose only Sullivan listened and instead of trying to fix what is wrong with the Harris County Republican Party, he’s decided to make nice with the Democrats in hopes he can win again in 2016. Whether or not he switches parties is irrelevant. To a person, every blogger that he went to lunch with, even the advocate for killing Republicans, praised Sullivan and trashed his Republican predecessors. And Republicans in general.
Nice going Mike. Although, you really can’t blame him. The HCRP has done nothing to indicate that they are willing to make the adjustments necessary to win Harris County in 2014, much less 2016. Survival is a politician’s first response. Which makes sitting down and breaking bread with someone that has threatened to kill your voters even more puzzling.
Imagine if Houston Mayor Annise Parker sat down with a group of bloggers that included one for the KKK. It’d be on the front page of any big city newspaper. But a Republican sitting down with with a guy that wants to put a cap in Republicans? Meh.

So now, Coby = the KKK?
Jump high, Jolly. There’s real sharks in the water!

seriously? looks like you are upset because you did not get invited. No one has worked harder for republicans in Harris County than Sullivan. Woodfill is missing in action, so big jolly you need relax buddy.

quit drinking,
How?
Sullivan told the Mayor he wouldn’t campaign against the rain tax but would vote against it.
He was a lobbyist for a Metro vendor and bent over backwards to help them at every opportunity?
Voted for the Richmond alignment?
I have never seen him lift a finger to help anyone but himself.

Dude. Yvonne has already worked this side of the street. It's not a big enough deal for two posts, so stop acting all butthurt. Justin Concepcion is arranging a meeting with all your favorite RWNJs. I'll bet they will even invite you…

did you at least call mike and ask him before you judged him? just curious he may have a plausible explanation.. i dont care either way ; just makes sense

Sully works for Sully, his party label is a flag of convenience and he’ll jump ship if necessary to keep sucking on the public teat.
He ran for his last cncl term under false pretenses, using the SJL model to immediately file for his next gig. I’ve no idea how he snows the voters sufficiently to stay in a comfy chair. Or did his avowed refusal while on cncl to never take a stand on controversial issues ingratiate him to the thoroughly amoral and opportunistic vermin on Bagby and those hollowing out the county offices a few blocks away?

Are we talking non-partisanship or BI-partisanship? Let’s get real, here; the only way to get absolutely anything done in the City, let alone Harris County, is to be willing to work with both sides on a bi-partisan level… And not only be willing to- but actually successfully working with both sides. To be non-partisan, we’re talking that this elected official wouldn’t even be a part of a party- it makes no sense then that you’re ridiculing him for mingling with dems when you’re calling him a non partisan republican… Like, he wouldn’t even be a republican then. (Maybe I’m misunderstanding the context of non partisan). Mind you, I think it’s incredibly smart that he brought over Justin from the Mayor’s office. Justin is smart and savvy, and he will obviously do a fantastic job of promoting the Tax Office in the social media world and communicating with the public. Honestly, isn’t that what we want? God forbid we ridicule an elected official for bringing the BEST people to his office to best serve the public. Who even cares what political party he subscribes to? Also… I’m sure that if you asked kindly, Sullivan would have you and the other republican blogger friends over for a visit. He probably already extended an invite and it just didn’t work out… that’s what I’m guessing?? Maybe there will even be free coffee and a finger sandwich or two!? He would love to have y’all, I bet.
I think we should rise about being so political. It makes for good reading- I loved reading this, for instance- but I think it is distracting from the ultimate goal of how to best work with and serve the public; alienating one side or the other because of political affiliation is certainly not the best way to do that.

Guess what-I have lived above my business for 26 years and have consistently voted Republican. Got a letter from Mike Sullivan’s office yesterday stating ” ‘they’ have “information” that my address is “different” from my voter registration, and I must mail in a “confirmation” of my address. Turns out, per Amie Nguyen, Supervisor, that they have no record of “address change” but require this “confirmation” BECAUSE I LIVE ABOVE MY BUSINESS. What has changed in the last 26 years???—Mike Sullivan-Republican Hater!!!!! Sounds like an attempt at business owners (Republicans) disenfranchisement to me!!
