From the John Culberson campaign:
Culberson Campaign Releases New Campaign Ad: “Care”
Ad features Jim “Mattress Mack” McIngvale who encourages Houstonians to re-elect Congressman John Culberson for his work after Hurricane Harvey
The Culberson for Congress Campaign released today its second broadcast ad of the election. In the ad, Jim McIngvale, better known to Houston as “Mattress Mack,” strongly encourages the voters of District 7 to re-elect Congressman John Culberson for securing billions in disaster relief for Houston after Hurricane Harvey.
Congressman Culberson spearheaded the Texas and Florida Congressional Delegations to secure $141 billion in disaster relief funding for the victims of Hurricanes Harvey, Irma and Maria.
The Houston Chronicle wrote of Culberson after the Hurricane, “We don’t want to imagine what would have happened after Hurricane Harvey without U.S. Rep. John Culberson in Congress.”
Mattress Mack is known in part for his generosity during Hurricane Harvey by opening up two of his stores for storm and flood victims and using company trucks to help rescue others trapped in their homes.

Winston Churchill once said, “What type of people do they think we are?”
We are Texans, and we take care of each other.
I know of no Texan in Washington who took care of Houston better and during the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey than my friend, John Culberson.
John Culberson stood up for Texas and worked across the aisle to get Houston and Texas the funding we needed to make Houston strong again after Hurricane Harvey.
Please re-elect my friend, John Culberson!

Mattress Mack endorses Representative John Culberson, the Tea Party Republican who wants to make sure that you don’t get coverage for your pre-existing conditions as part of your health insurance.
John Culberson, the man who voted twice AGAINST repealing the discriminatory “Don’t Ask Don’t Tell,” which prohibited LGBT soldiers from serving openly. Culberson, the legislator who voted AGAINST marriage equality multiple times. The man who wants to help build the wall between Mexico and Texas, thus crippling the Lone Star State’s relationship with its #1 trade partner. The man who has voted with Donald Trump 98% of the time.
Mattress Mac just endorsed against the majority of his former customers.

Wait. . . . .
You’re saying that you DON’T like Culberson for all those things?? You’re saying that you think that most Texans agree with you??
I don’t think so Pat. You’re very confused. You obviously think you live in California.

“…you don’t get coverage for your pre-existing conditions as part of your health insurance.” That is simply stupid. We had coverage in Texas for pre-existing conditions, it was called the state high risk pool. My friends who were in it had regular (better than Obamacare) policies that cost less than a standard policy, with no pre-existing condition, Obamacare compliant, costs now.

Hi Robert, long time, no hear!
I’d love to sit down with you sometime when I’m out in West Texas.

The old state high risk pool was NOT better coverage than the Obamacare policies, and was NOT cheaper. My premium for the high risk pool was $1000 per month and had a $5000 or $8000 deductible. My premium for the Obamacare (Affordable Health Care Act) plan was $450 per month and had something like a $1500 deductible. Moreover, you were only eligible for the high risk pool if you were diagnosed with specific medical conditions. Until then, you were stuck with your current individual insurance plan, for which premiums were allowed to increase 50% per year. My individual plan with Fortis started at $85 per month, but at the end was costing me $2000 per month in premium for a single male, and with an $8000 annual deductible, and unlike Obamacare, even preventative services, annual checkups, flu shots and the like counted against the deductible.

Thanks for that Pat. I had forgotten the good things Culberson has accomplished.

By the way, wanting to buy health insurance that will cover pre-existing conditions is EXACTLY like wanting to buy fire insurance after your house has burned down. The very idea is ridiculous. People that make such demands don’t understand what insurance is, and don’t mind displaying their ignorance.
