I admit to having misgivings about attending. I mean, seriously, what does the Tax Office have to offer me except me having to write checks to them and renew my truck’s plates once a year? The answer is, quite a lot.
First off, I was thoroughly impressed with the professionalism of the staff. I have no idea if they are Republican or Democrat but I do know that they know their stuff. And they are friendly, not something I would normally associate with a government office. Every department was represented: there were 13 staffers on hand to help the residents of the Cloverleaf area on anything from tax bills and appraisals to veteran’s benefits.
Now, I know what you conservatives are going to say, cut the staff! Cut the budget! If citizens want services cut, that isn’t the role of the office – that would be the role of your legislators. Mr. Vasquez and staff’s job is to utilize the resources given them in the best possible way for constituents and, after meeting and listening to them, I’m confident that is happening.
I was given a copy of the presentation that Mr. Vasquez and team put together to share with you (click the picture to open).
If you get a chance, you should attend one of the next two. Here are links to the info about them:

As their last slide says….
We’re from the government and we’re here to help!
In this case, I believe them!
