Where to start. Read Mr. Murphy’s press release here. Link to the Texas GOP’s KristiWorksforACORN.com website and read more about her ties to that subversive group. Note that Texans Together has scrubbed their website of the board information but it was captured in this Cypress Times piece. The contributions were also listed in a file I uploaded for this piece.
I got a good laugh when I heard them use big dog’s 2008 interview with her in this video:

Still think that “Top Houston political bloggers” give a crap about the truth? If you do, you are delusional. You just gotta read this one.
I have to admit that I was shocked when Ryan Walsh, Campaign Manager for Harris County Judge Ed Emmett, was the first speaker with a message from the judge. His message? That now is the time more than ever to get involved and get trained to be a poll watcher, that he supports the efforts of King Street, and that we need to make certain that every person gets one vote counted accurately.
Color me happily surprised. I’ll leave it at that for now.
Think about what we have with this story. A former ACORN lobbyist is on the board of a group that pushed her over the top in 2008 by a slim margin, giving her $43,500 worth of services in the process. This group comes back in 2010, wanting to pick a fight with the Harris County Tax Assessor Collector, a guy that lost his election in part because he put voter registration as his top priority, and this group seemingly schemes with the county attorney and the Texas Democratic Party to get Dem voters riled up.
The difference this time?
We aren’t going to sit back and let it happen. We will fight the fraud every step of the way and we don’t care how many names you call us. No more stealing elections in Harris County.
Take that to the bank.
As usual, the meeting was full. But nothing like it will be next week. Next week, boys and girls, you’d better get there long before the scheduled start time of 7 pm if you want a seat. ACORN whistleblower Anita MonCreif will be in the house. Should be an eye-opening evening. Here’s a sample:

Until then, remember this: they HATE you so DON”T BACK DOWN, NOTHING WILL CHANGE THEIR HATE FOR YOU. Keep pushing back, don’t let them steal this election.
Kudos to King Street Patriots and the John Faulk campaign for pushing this issue to the forefront.
UPDATE: One of the charges made against Houston Votes at last night’s King Street Patriots meeting was that Houston Votes is a subset of Project Vote, which was an arm of ACORN in 2008. I asked Maureen Haver of Texans Together if they would like to respond to this charge. Below is the response from Fred Lewis, founder and chairman of Texans Together.
Houston Votes explored in 2010 receiving funds for 501c3 non-partisan voter registration from Project Votes, but Houston Votes has not received and will receive no funding from them or any entity affiliated with them.
Houston Votes is not a subset of Project Votes; that is a baseless and false charge, for Project Votes has no control or influence legally or in fact relating to Houston Votes. Houston Votes is scrupulously non-partisan, and if King Street Patriots and True the Vote says otherwise, they are making unfounded false statements.
Project Votes essentially funds c3 voter registration and has no relationship currently with ACORN. Houston Votes is not ACORN and has and has had no relationship with them. Project Votes is a separate entity from ACORN and was founded separately.
Listen to Ryan Walsh with a message from Judge Emmett.
