1. Who are you, and what are you running for?
My name is Virginia S. Pittman and I am a Republican candidate for Justice of the Peace Pct 5 – Plc 2.
2. What kind of cases does this court hear?
At JP 5-2 the Judge can hear cases from traffic violations to juvenile truancy, Class ‘C’ criminal, as well as small-claim suits and evictions.
3. Why are you running for this particular bench?
I have been employed under the current judge for the last eight years; I have adopted some of his policies, as well as have visions of my own. I have a passion to serve the public and a desire to continue to do the job that it entails.
4. What are your qualifications for this job?
As I stated above, I have been employed here in this particular court for the last eight years, four years as a Supervisor appointed by the Judge. I have a total of 16 years experience in Harris County and know that my experience, along with any training over my years with Harris County speaks for itself.
5. Why is this race important?
As an employee of this court I see the needs of not only the employees, but the public, these needs are issues that need to be rectified to make this efficient court run even more efficient.
6. Why should people vote for you in the primary?
I believe I have the practical experience in this court to work toward the necessary improvements. I ask that people vote for me, the familiar face in this court, the helpful face who will not make promises to get their vote, but merely work to earn their trust that the public are the people that we will continue to serve.
7. Why did you choose to run in the Republican Primary versus the Democratic Primary?
Actually growing up in the Midwest I was raised to believe I was a Democrat. After moving to Texas I became more in tune with what exactly a Republican stands for and I felt that it better suits my beliefs, a conservative Christian believer.
