1. Who are you, and what are you running for?
I am Daniel J. Lemkuil and I am running for Judge of the 309th District Court. You can look me up at www.lemkuilforjudge.com or on Facebook.
2. What kind of cases does this court hear?
This court hears family law cases, which include divorces, suits to establish parentage, adoptions, name changes, and modification and enforcement of prior orders involving children (such as custody, visitation, and child support).
3. Why are you running for this particular bench?
I chose this particular bench because the presiding judge is retiring.
4. What are your qualifications for this job?
I am Board Certified in Family Law. I have over 5 years experience as an associate family court judge. I have an MBA in Finance (which is helpful in property cases & interpreting tax returns). I have over 10 years experience representing people in family courts and in appeals of family law cases. I know what is necessary to be a good judge.
5. Why is this race important?
This race is important because so many people are affected by what happens in family courts, and when a person is involved in a family law case, it affects their life in very profound ways. It is very important that the right person becomes the judge of this court, and that they have the life experience of being a spouse and a parent so they understand how people are affected by the decisions they make. It also helps to have the education and experience necessary to recognize the issues and apply the law correctly.
6. Why should people vote for you in the primary?
People should vote for me in the primary because I am the most qualified candidate in this race. I have the education and experience necessary to be a good judge. I know the law and I understand how people’s lives are affected by the rulings a family court judge makes. My daughter and my wife are the most important people in my life, so I understand how people might feel when they are dealing with family law issues.
7. Why did you choose to run in the Republican Primary versus the Democratic Primary?
I have been a Republican all my life and have been active in Republican groups for many years. I believe in personal responsibility and limited government intervention in people’s lives.
