You may read the Permanent Injunction by clicking here . Note that the plaintiff’s lawyer is one Bob Wolfe, fatther of Michael Wolfe, who was at one time both an incumbent in an at large position on the Harris County Department of Education and a primary challenger to a fellow Republican on that board until he withdrew. Also note that Bob Wolfe and Chris Daniel are both on the Board of Trustees for the Lone Star College System. As well, they are all supporters of current HCRP Chair Jared Woodfill.
On the other side of the argument, note that the attorney for the Third Party Defendent, Mr. Dormon, is one Jeremy Radack. Mr. Radack is the son of County Commissioner Precinct 3 Steve Radack. Mr. Dormon is an employee of Commissioner Radack – he is listed as the Parks Superintendent. You may read Mr. Dormon’s appeal by clicking here for part 1 and here for part 2 . Note that in the Certificate of Conference in part 2, Jared Woodfill is said to be in favor of Mr. Dormon’s appeal.
Now, it is indeed strange to see Jared Woodfill and Steve Radack on the same team. If you have been around a bit, you understand that Commissioner Radack is not a huge fan of Chairman Woodfill. I have no idea why, but it is certainly true. Equally as interesting is to see Mr. Woodfill in opposition to his most ardent supporters.
Now, rumor time. Rumor says that Mr. Woodfill overruled his primary director’s decision not to accept Mr. Dormon’s application to be on the ballot after pressure from Commissioner Radack. I don’t normally pass along rumors but what the heck? Gotta have a little fun with all of this stuff. The rumor further states that Mr. Woodfill wanted Mr. Daniel to file the lawsuit so that a third party could make the decision, thus softening the blow to Mr. Woodfill from Mr. Radack had Mr. Woodfill ruled against Mr. Dormon. In other words, Mr. Woodfill was between a rock and a Radack and wanted a way out. Heh, fun stuff.
I have no idea how this is going to turn out. Reading Mr. Jeremy Radack’s appeal, it seems reasonable that Mr. Dormon should be allowed a place on the ballot. Mr. Daniel has until 2:00 pm today to file an answer to the appeal, so, stay tuned!
One more thing, Mr. Radack gets a little publicity in today’s Houston Chronicle, and then takes a shot from Charles Kuffner at Off the Kuff. Hey, Charles, it could be worse – you could be stuck with Commissioner Sylvia Garcia like me!
