Well, well. It's primary season in Harris County and you know what that means for Republicans! Time to get down and get dirty before we claim to be the party of Jesus! Yippee! Someone in the race to oppose current Democrat Adrian Garcia decided to get an early start.
I received an email yesterday, forwarded to me, that contained an attachment purporting to show candidate Louis Guthrie's personnel file. As is typical in these attacks, the only information in the file was negative – I'm guessing that over the course of his career, before he was fired for the car wash incident by a very partisan sheriff, Mr. Guthrie probably did something good that ended up in his file. But that wasn't included.
I decided to ignore it because Mr. Guthrie has enough problems with his record without me adding to it. But then I did a quick web search and guess what? Someone has set up a website, LouisTaylorGuthrie.com, that has the same information. Hmm. And interestingly, it looks like the website was put up by supporters of Adrian Garcia!
Please.
Do you really think that Garcia supporters would put this information up before the primary was over? I don't. I think that they would lay back and wait until he won the primary and then drop that on the voters of Harris County.
No, my guess is that one of the current Republican candidates is pushing this infromation. And I'm pretty sure that I know which one, having dealt with the operatives that he is using in the past. But hey, they go to church! The fact that Mr. Guthrie seems to be the overwhelming choice of deputies in the field doesn't mean much to those guys.
There's nothing quite like a Repubican prmary in Harris County. Nothing at all. Stay tuned for lots more.
Btw, here is a link to Mr. Guthrie's real website if you want to know more about him: LouisGuthrie.com
