Contrary to this report from Brian Rogers in the Houston Chronicle, the Harris County Republican Party, aka the Harris County GOP, is remaining neutral in the appointment process for the vacant Harris County District Attorney position. In a smackdown of Harris County Republican Party Chair Jared Woodfill, the party’s executive committee, which is comprised of precinct chairs, approved a resolution put forth by Precinct 661 chair Tom Bazan at their quarterly meeting last night.

The resolution was not about Mrs. Anderson. It was about the Party chair once again going around the party’s leadership. As for why Woodfill did this in the first place, he is supposed to return my call inquiring about that. But my guess is that he is trying to make up with the Anderson faction that split the party so badly in the 2012 primary in order to help himself in the 2014 primary. Remember, Woodfill supported Pat Lykos in that race. Which makes this quote from Deborah Wrigley’s report on ABC 13 humorous at best:
“I’m looking for someone qualified, who shares Mike’s vision and can run for election. She meets all those criteria,” Harris County GOP Chair Jared Woodfill said.
Seriously Jared? Someone who shares Mike’s vision of the good ol’ boys days of lock ’em up and throw away the key while withholding evidence from defense attorneys? Talk about a filp/flop. That is 180 degrees from your comments during the 2012 primary.
Good for the precinct chairs asserting their power. That is a positive sign for the future of the party.
