[email protected]A Couple of Questions for Gov. Perry
and Why I couldn’t Promote This VisitGovernor Perry is coming to Kingwood today, but not at the invitation of the Kingwood TEA Party–though we have invited him to speak to us and then dialogue with us countless times with no response.
If you can attend, please do so, but please mention your disappointment in Governor Perry’s unwillingness to meet with us even though Bill White, Kathie Glass, and Andy Barron all did.
My understanding is that there is no time in this stop for Questions and Answers. He is going to speak TO us and then scoot out on his very busy campaign schedule.
I do hope that Governor Perry will address what his commitment to securing our border for the safety of all Texas citizens is–REGARDLESS of what the Federal government does or doesn’t do.
I also hope that Governor Perry will share with us the depth of his commitment to protect Texans and small businesses from rampant unconstitutional Federal overspending, strangulating regulations, and punishing illegal aliens and energy policies. Is the Governor really willing to stand tall for the 10th amendment in order to regain State’s Powers ceded to the Federal government over the years?
Many of us have questions as to Governor Perry’s commitment on these issues and more of concern for us. We acknowledge that Texas is in better shape than many other states, but a governor who is truly interested in REPRESENTING his constituents meets with all of them freely, not just the special interest groups among them.
I’ll be there and hope you can make it too. I just hope that Governor Perry makes this a dialogue with his constituents rather than the whistlestop of a disinterested politician. Many of us are voting predominantly Republican in this election, but that DOESN’T mean we’re going to accept what used to be “Business as Usual.”
Kingwood TEA Party is here to stay.
Remembering in NO-vember!
Robin
Everything that Robin says is true. They repeatedly asked Gov. Perry to visit with them and he refused. And they weren’t even hiding any tax returns!
Why did he refuse? For the same reason he’s been hiding from Teaps ever since he won their vote with his pretend secession rap in April 2009. No reason to speak to groups that might ask tough questions if he knows he has their vote.
Hey, I voted for the dude and told you to do so as well. But that doesn’t mean I have blinders on as to what is going on. It just means that Bill White sucked as a candidate and Rick Perry is clearly the right choice in that race.
But more important than Rick Perry is something that Robin said at the end of her email.
Kingwood TEA Party is here to stay.
Maybe. But I doubt it. I think the TEA brand has been so corrupted by the GOP that they will fade away into oblivion or, at best, hang around as R booster clubs. And Kingwood is no exception – lookie at who they have coming to their meeting on 11/15 – D_nnie Boy himself. This part of their announcement is choice:
Sen. Dan Patrick will be here todiscuss the Texas TEA Party Caucus and implementing our conservative agenda in Austin in 2011.
Our? Uh, no. D_nnie cares about D_nnie, period. He’ll use KWTP and anyone else to get HIS agenda done (you know, a higher office, more exposure, etc.) but there is no ‘our’ in D_nnie.
Sad to see Kingwood Tea fall for this. They have a good, strong organization. They created the model for candidate meet and greets, which included inviting D’s. All gone if they choose to join with D_nnie.
Sad day for Teaps. But do go see Gov. Perry. Get pumped up and make it through Tuesday and crush the D’s for what they have done.
Then settle in and watch the Teaps whither away.
Or, contact your TEA organizers and tell them you do not want to become a Republican booster club. Maybe they will listen and start preparing to hold all elected officials accountable for their actions. Not just the D’s. The next time D_nnie introduces a bill to take away one of your freedoms, you’ll be glad you did.
Your choice.
