Texas Congressmen Louis Gohmert, Pete Olson, Brian Babin and Randy Weber have signed onto a letter to the Government Accountability Office asking the agency to investigative the cancellation of an RFP issued to process work permits under DACA and DAPA.
In the letter dated April 15, 2015 the Congressman explain their request to the GAO was spurred by the series of memorandum issued by Department of Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson on November 20, 2014 to extend the existing Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals and establish the new program that provides for the issuance of work authorization permits to undocumented immigrants residing in the United States.
The program is termed DAPA or “Deferred Action for Parents of Americans and Lawful Permanent Residents”.
Among the questions asked of Gene Dodaro, the Comptroller General of the United States, is for verification that USCIS has not used funds; mandatory, discretionary or otherwise, to fund the implementation of the executive actions on immigration as announced in the November 20, 2014 memoranda.
The Congressman also ask the GAO to determine how USCIS will cover the costs associated with the CAM (Central American Minors) program. Under CAM any Central American illegal immigrant who has come to the attention of a DHS agency and has been here for at least one year can apply to bring in their family from Central America; no fees required.
