The CongressWOMAAAN has a challenger in the Democratic primary. Dr. Richard Johnson, currently Chief of Staff for State Rep. Jarvis Johnson, has a website up and running. It’s clearly a work in progress and you won’t find the words Democrat, Democratic or Republican on it. So, I asked via Facebook if he was running as a D or R and received this from Laurie Robinson:
Dem – He has very conservatives views, which allows him to work across both isle to get things done. Christian, Veteran, Father is 4 (along with many African American church goers.). However, he believes in the strength of Medicare and the assistance that Medicaid provides to the low income, etc.
And this from former State Rep. Debbie Riddle:
Richard Johnson is a fine young man with conservative values. In that District where the Sheila Jackson Lee circus train is currently in power it will be impossible for a Republican to run. Richard is a well educated, intelligent, well spoken & a politically astute fellow that can bring pro-life, fiscal responsibility and defend Second Amendment issues with strength. He can leave party behind and accomplish great things which today seems like a rather good concept. With his strong faith and unshakeable core values I think he would be an asset in DC.
The reason I asked is that I recall that he ran in the Republican primary for Trustee of the Harris County Department of Education in 2012.
I asked him after the meeting if he had ever voted in a Republican Primary or for a Republican. No, he says. I asked him why not? He told me he didn’t think you had to support Republicans to be one. Alrighty then.
He also features this photo on his website:

Perhaps that will play will in CD18, I don’t know. I did find this to be funny:
Education Reform
- Improve the public education system and ensure that children in District 18 receive the same quality of education as children in residentially wealthier districts.
- Expand Career and Technology Education (Vocational Education) programs in high schools; Increase internship and apprenticeship programs to feed the trades with highly skilled workers upon graduation. (Texas HB 136 & SB 2105).
- Expand and enhance President Obama’s Second Chance Pale Grant Pilot Program.
- Expand the Student Work-Study Mentorship Program to enhance academic accountability and student success throughout America. (Texas SB 2082).
What’s so funny? Well, I mean, he has a Ph.D. in in Higher Education, with a concentration in Education Administration and Foundation. Good luck expanding and enhancing that PALE Grant Program. Heh. I know, I know, cheap shot. 😎
Hey, anyone would be better than the CongressWOMAAAN but my guess is that he’ll get about the same number of votes as his boss did when he ran against her in 2010 – 28{997ab4c1e65fa660c64e6dfea23d436a73c89d6254ad3ae72f887cf583448986}.
Bernadette gives her full support for Dr. Johnson who has know him over the many years. He is a great man, father and ex soldier. Dr. Johnson and I shared hours discussing politics on both sides, discussed education discrepacies that affects inner city students, and discussed health issues. We realize the lack of family unity where men play an important roll as a man of his home and disciplinary father to his chldren.
I am hoping and counting on my Republicans that in this election against Sheila we stand in his corner. I dont know how that can be done, but I want to discourage ANY Republans to NOT RUN IN DIST 18. Let Dr. Johnson battle it out with her.
We need to give him monies and some support because this time around he will made a difference. We could count on him representing families much better and our President Trump would be pleased.
God Blesses Dr. Johnson.
