HOUSTON, TEXAS (December 15, 2009)
Don Large, Candidate for Chairman of the Harris County Republican Party (HCRP), calls on HCRP Treasurer Josh Flynn to immediately resign his position in light of the failure to report approximately $10,000 of contributions on the party’s mid-year 2009 campaign finance reports.
“This failure to report ten percent of our contributions is a serious breach of fiduciary duty by Treasurer Flynn,” Don Large stated today. “These financial contributions came from our most important candidates in Harris County, both on a local level and statewide. If we cannot keep our own party finances in order, how can the average voter trust our candidates to be good stewards of their money at any level of government.”
“This matter is just another example of the incumbent Chairman’s failure to lead our party these past eight years. I support the call for repeated independent audits of party finances. When elected as Chairman, I will work tirelessly to regain the trust of our current donor base, as well as to establish trust with new donors, to help build our party for the challenges we face in the November, 2010 general election cycle and beyond.”
