Candidate Jack Morman outlines his three priority issues:
If elected, my top three priorities are: (1) striving to reduce taxes; (2) ensuring our law enforcement personnel have the adequate resources to effectively fight crime; and (3) re-prioritizing spending so that our citizens’ needs are met while eliminating wasteful and unnecessary spending.
Lower Taxes
By spending our tax dollars wisely, I will ensure that all of the necessary and crucial projects and programs are sufficiently funded while at the same time being able to fight for lower taxes. Good conservative values of smaller, less intrusive government will go a long way in this regard. I will fight to eliminate wasteful spending that does nothing serve the citizenry and in doing so will make lower taxes a top priority.
Law Enforcement
Among the many duties of a county commissioner is to help set and oversee the budgets of law enforcement agencies. I will work to make sure our law enforcement officers have the resources that they need to effectively fight crime and keep everyone safe. In so doing, this will have the added bonus of reducing crime which could ease the burden on our jails and courts and saving tax dollars in the process.
Spending
One of the key powers of commissioners is deciding how our tax dollars are spent. By re-prioritizing our spending priorities on those projects and programs that best serve the population while reducing or eliminating unnecessary spending I will ensure that taxes remain low while still meeting the budgetary demands of our great county.
