I know, I usually talk about politics and nothing but politics. But every once in a while, I’ll mention something different. Tomorrow is not a “regular” day at Neartown Church – it will be an informative day about Compassion International and the work they are doing to lift children out of poverty. If you recall, we had one of these days earlier this year and the missus and I adopted Little Jolly. Here is a flyer for tomorrow:
Robbie Seay, whose work with the Robbie Seay Band has received numerous awards, will be talking about his work with Compassion. I know that Robbie is very involved in helping the people of Haiti but I’m interested in learning more about his work with the poor of the world.
C’mon down. We meet on the second floor of the Downtown YMCA, located at 808 Pease St, Houston, TX at 10:00 am. It usually lasts an hour or so unless Russell gets wound up and forgets to stop. There is plenty of street parking or you can park in the garage – I think it’s free on Sundays. Just follow the signs once you get there or sniff the air and follow the smell of the coffee.
Hope to see you there!
UPDATE: What an inspiring day! Robbie has an incredible gift for touching people. The church adopted 17 more children from Compassion. We adopted a 5 year old boy from Honduras that shares a birthday with my wife.
It was great to see Houston City Council member Melissa Noriega there. Houston is going to miss her presence on council but I suspect we’ll see her again soon.
