I received another email today from the Mr. Woodfill, the 10th one this month. Too bad he’s decided not to return my emails asking about specific policies and such. Today’s email was an advertisement for another “Chairman’s Report“, this one to feature the City of Houston Runoff election. Now, seriously, is there a Republican that will be voting in that election that needs more information?
Of course not.
But, it will give the Chairman another chance to put forth misleading information about his performance as chair. And that is the real reason for the mailer.
When I read the first one, I just had to shake my head. He had a full page devoted to himself and it was almost an exact copy of his campaign flyer. Except that he didn’t have to pay for it. No, he was able to get other candidates to pay for it. Go ahead and compare the two messages. And then go read the truth about those messages as I put forth here.
The email today contained a link with the rate information for candidates. The back cover, which I think largely propelled M.J. Kahn to his upset of Pam Holm, runs $12,500. A county wide mailer to Republican voters is a very effective campaign tool. Costly but effective. How much should the first page have cost Mr. Woodfill?
Mr. Woodfill should refrain from using party resources for his own gain and use them to promote Republican principles instead. There will be several good alternatives to Mr. Woodfill’s divisive reign that will be on the ballot in March. Obviously, politics being what it is, he isn’t going to do that.
So if you want the party to change and be more reflective of Harris County Republicans, you need to be the source of information for your friends and neighbors. Tell them what you know to be true. Show them the raw numbers that reflect a shrinking party. Tell them that we must have a change in leadership if the HCRP is going to remain a force in Harris County.
If you don’t, then you can expect more of the same.
