In case you missed the news out of the Republican Party of Texas convention, conspiring with the chief priests in exchange for 30 pieces of silver to advocate for applying a religious litmus test on anyone seeking to run for elected office did not bode well.
That voice vote on the Chairman of the Republican Party of Texas was the result of the challenger winning only four of the 31 breakout caucus sessions where delegates cast their vote this past Friday morning—and in the face of overwhelming defeat — the challenger conceded the race from the convention floor.
Is the May 24th runoff for Chair of the Harris County Republican Party shaping up to be a rinse & repeat of the State Chair race?
Will those ugly flyers show up in your mailboxes?
As I look back upon the weeks heading into convention I thought the Terry Lowry Religious Litmus Test to fill vacant precinct chair positions would never rear its ugly head again.
Here’s video of one chief priest Mr. Lowry from 2013 in case you’ve never seen him in action before—it’s the gift that keeps on giving:
Paul Simpson’s results speak for themselves and he should be reelected as Chair of the Harris County Republican Party.
Paul Simpson’s election as Chairman of the Harris County Republican Party resulted in the addition of 160 Republican precinct chairs since he took the leadership reigns.
Paul Simpson raised over $3.1 million dollars from over 1,250 donors since he took the leadership reigns.
Paul Simpson conducted the first outside audit of Harris County Republican Party finances in over 20 years after he took the leadership reigns.
Let this video of Mr. Lowry serve as a reminder that going to the chief priests and turning your soul over to them in exchange for 35,000 pieces of silver may not bode well.

Yvonne,
I predict Trump wins big. I predict Republicans win big.

I did not attend the state convention where this video clip comes from, but my memory is that is was in the mid 1990’s and held in Fort Worth.
I did just get back from this year’s convention. A major change in the voting procedure was put in place. Each of the 268 planks of the state platform were voted on individually, using ScanTron forms, and the results are on the state party website. All planks passed, but some had significant opposition, including planks to end direct election of US senators, regarding gambling, and conversion therapy.

I don’t see the connection between the headline and the article.
Republicans have had numerous defeats in Texas history. The party went almost 100 years without having a statewide office-holder.
I’m Tom Zakes and I approve this message.

Sadly this is not going to turn out the way you’d expect. The voter turnout is dismal, non existent and down right disheartening.
