Reminder – the biggest debate of the Harris County Republican Party primary season is just one week away! Next Thursday, May 3rd, at 7:00 pm in the King Street Patriots’ headquarters, Pat Lykos will explain to voters why she deserves another term to continue her efforts to clean up and modernize the Harris County District Attorney’s office. Former Republican Judge Mike Anderson will counter her arguments with his own, asking you to return to the good old days that he remembers.
Which one will you vote for? How will you know unless you show up and listen?
Besides, you’ll get to see two expert moderators, Paul Bettencourt and Scott Braddock, rein these two candidates in and not let them get away with obfuscating and dodging tough questions. Everyone in Harris County Republican circles knows Tio Pablo but if you aren’t familiar with Scott Braddock, this bit from his most recent profile will help:
A force across the Lone Star State, Scott Braddock was most recently the host of possibly the most dynamic and informative daily radio show in Texas. Praise for his work has been bipartisan. Peggy Venable, the director of Americans for Prosperity in Texas, says “Scott Braddock has been a Texas institution.” Democratic Strategist Harold Cook says “there are few reporters in Texas more fair, even-handed, or well-liked as Scott.”
Scott’s colleagues in journalism agree. Wayne Slater, Senior Political Writer for the Dallas Morning News has called him “Hands down, one of the best interviewers in Texas,” and Texas Monthly Editor Jake Silverstein says “Scott Braddock is a rare thing: a source of thoughtful commentary and fearless reporting that delivers real insights.”
I’m really looking forward to this! If you get there early enough, you can turn in a question for the moderators to consider asking the candidates. Questions must be turned in before 6:45 pm.
