An email from my home answering service (about the only thing U-Verse Voice does right) arrived in my inbox. So I listen to it and guess who it is? None other than Stan Stanart, Republican nominee for Harris County County Clerk. You know, the guy I just said wasn’t exactly a dream teamer? Anyways, Stan was letting me know about a new organization designed to fight Mattress Mac and team. The organization is called Citizens Against Red Light Cameras PAC and they are here to fight for you! Well, sorta. The organization isn’t quite new, it is part of Randy Kubosh’s fight. He’s been fighting these idiotic revenue generators for years.
Here is the message if you really want to listen:
Citizens Against Red Light Cameras – Stan Stanart
Red light cameras suck, especially if you have kids still driving your cars and trucks. Trust me on this one.
A couple of things about this struck me as very interesting. First, Stanart gets his name out to however many people are on the robodial list. He needs the name recognition and this is a good issue for him to get it. Second, the call actually came from the Harris County Republican Party, 713-522-0650. Third, there wasn’t a “paid for by” on the call.
Which makes me wonder. Who’s paying for it? Stanart is a current candidate for office. Legally, shouldn’t he have put a “paid for by Stan Stanart campaign” tag on it? Maybe not, I don’t know the technicalities of the law. But it does seem odd, doesn’t it? I mean, I received a call from a political candidate representing a private PAC through the county Republican party.
Is that kosher?
