I have never, ever seen an elected official that has done so much for the citizens of Texas as Texas Land Commissioner George P. Bush. Heck, I’ve never seen an elected official do anything close to what Bush claims to have done.
Think I’m kidding? I got this in the mailbox today:
I gotta be honest with you. There has never been a time in my life when I said to myself, “Self, for a stronger Texas, you need to turn to George P. Bush.”.
Never. Not once.
But I might have to now. I mean, seriously, this dude has been such an awesome elected official that not only has he give $4 Billion to the Texas Public Education System, he has actually figured out a way for the land commission to produce more money than it spends. Wow!
Let’s take a look at his six bullet points:
STANDING BESIDE OUR PRESIDENT
Supporting President Trump and his pro-taxpayer, pro-jobs America First agenda.INCREASING FISCAL RESPONSIBILITY
Reduced the size of his office by 15% to save taxpayers millions – the only state agency that produced more money than it spends.Huh. Wasn’t that money that he “produced” paid for by taxpayers?
CREATING NEW OPPORTUNITIES
Increased proceeds from oil and gas leases by more than 200%.So hey, George P. Bush is responsible for fracking and the growth of the oil and gas industry in Texas? What did we do in the years before he was elected? Good thing we had something besides the oil and gas industry, right?
PROTECTING HISTORY & TEXAS TRADITION
Preserving the Alamo to ensure it stands forever.Well, this is rich. Alternative facts and all.
PREPARING FOR DISASTER
Before and after Hurricane Harvey, leading efforts to put money away for disaster relief and overseeing one of the largest federal block grants in our nation’s history to rebuild our coastal communities. This is simply a bizarre claim given that so many people are still waiting for assistance. Four months after Harvey hit Texas, just two homes repaired under GLO program.
MAKING EDUCATION APRIORITY
Contributed over $4 billion to our public schools. This is a joke, right? This guy is taking credit for tax money that has been sent to our public education system? What did we do before he got elected?
I get that candidates for office make absurd claims when they are desperate. But this guy has $3,371,892.44 Cash on Hand as of his last campaign finance report. His three opponents COMBINED have $104,071.91.
This mailer is absurd.
And it was mailed before the reports that came out about the donations to his campaign from contractors receiving bids for Harvey rebuilding.
When are Texas Republicans going to stand up and say no to this nonsense? After we lose and are out of power?
Dale Huls says
Good job on the George P. mailer. He’s another “I’m a conservative” around election time politician.

Amen brother!
Joe C Mannina says
It took George P several years to find out where Rollover Pass was; He also found out it had a history of being one of the oldest and best recreational fishing locations in the state. With all that information at His disposal, he promptly asked a willing Judge to take it away from the owners by using the Imminent Domain law. The willing Judge did and Rollover Pass now belongs to Galveston County. Alamo anyone?

he is just trying to worm his way up the ladder the way of least resistance

Nothing like a professional political marketeer writing your campaign mail out.
Money no object contract worker will make you appear larger than the earth.
I feel graced that I could even stand in his shadow, yea really. The Bushes, Clinton’s and
all of the deep state politicians have received the last of my contributions and the last
of my votes. Drain the Swamp.
