I bet Franklin Graham, Robert Jeffress and Paula White love this guy.
Mark Lee, a Trump voter and owner of a pest control company, provided Camerota with some insight into what “The Swamp” is, after the CNN anchor pointed out that the administration is stocked with multi-millionaires.
“I love that,” Lee contended. “They’re not politicians.”
“In a capitalist system, you’re allowed to make money,” he continued. “Being rich is good.”
Lee and another Trump voter determined that the Swamp is “the mainstream,” “elites” as well as Congress.
And finally, Lee made a pretty striking declaration regarding his unwavering loyalty to the president:
“If Jesus Christ gets down off the cross and told me Trump is with Russia, I would tell him, ‘Hold on a second. I need to check with the President if it’s true.’”
When Camerota asked him why he believes the president over everyone else, Lee replied “I believe him. He’s a good man. And he’s taken so much shots for us.”
Lee also revealed that he shows up at Mar-a-Lago whenever the president stays at the Florida resort, armed with a “Blacks for Trump” sign.

Man, ain’t this the truth:
A year into Trump’s presidency, Christians are facing a spiritual reckoning
President Trump is an ultimate and consummate worshiper of money, sex and power. American Christians have not really reckoned with the climate he has created in our country and the spiritual obligation we have to repair it. As a result, the soul of our nation and the integrity of the Christian faith are at risk.
….
Central to the health of our society is for American Christians to rescue an authentic, compassionate and justice-oriented faith from the clutches of partisan abuse, and from the idolatry of money, sex and power. The word “repentance” in Christian, Jewish and Islamic traditions means much more than feeling sorry about the past; it also means “turning around” to equity and healing personally, and systemically in our institutions of policing and criminal justice, education, economics, voting rights, immigration and refugees, racial geography, housing, and more. Making repentance practical is the spiritual task ahead.
With all due respect to Mr. Wallace (the author of the article you cited), he’s as full of brown stuff as Mark Lee.
I am constantly amazed by the willingness of Christians to abrogate their personal responsibility to care for their neighbor and rely on a secular government to pick up the slack. I’m also amazed at the ability of most liberals who fight tooth an nail to remove even the slightest vestige of christianity from the public square to turn around and cite our biblical responsibility to care for the less fortunate as a justification for the ill-spent trillions of dollars that our government has squandered in social welfare.
Donald Trump is not my idea of what a Christian should be. Neither was Barack Obama, or Bill Clinton, or numerous other presidents (both Republican and Democrat). Jimmy Carter was a Baptist Sunday School teacher. He was disastrous in the oval office. We don’t elect presidents to be Christian Icons, we elect them to be political leaders – hopefully leaders who will do a good job of being the leader of our country.
Is Trump doing a good job? Maybe, but it’s hard to tell given the lack of reliable, un-biased, reporting. But he’s not responsible for the moral morass in which we find ourselves – he’s the product. Do you really think that the depravity that we see all around – in politics, in the entertainment industry, in a lot of business circles, on the internet – simply appeared on Jan 20, 2017? Blaming our mess on Trump is ridiculous. But, it’s a great way to avoid having to address the deeper roots. Mr. Wallace is correct in saying that it’s the Church’s responsibility to point the way and lead as we try to climb out of the swamp. But he’s dead wrong when he points to the government as the tool for the church to use.
As for Mr. Lee, given the record of other pest control operators that have been involved in politics. . . maybe he’d be better off sticking to killing roaches.
Thanks for a decent take Albert. Links to CNN and WaPo are all the warning I need to stop reading.
I sense a full court press by the libs in the GOP. I heard Michael Medved taking the same tack is our humble host here. Throwing the religious/Christian/guilt card on the table is pretty low David. Especially when it has been the go to strategy of democrats, who have no compunction using every possible argument to make conservatives turn their backs on their candidates after accusing said candidate of doing what they not only tolerate but promote.
Get a clue. We don’t care just like you don’t care. Politically two issues are left on the table. Sovereignty and fiscal responsibility. Everything else is just details. There are no, zero, nada democrats left who give a dang about either of these issues unless it is to exploit them for votes.
That you have joined the dems is your choice. Try a bit of honesty. You’ve taken any mention of being a conservative off your banners. Declare yourself for what you are.
Damn DJ, looks like you got under the skin of the neocon/RINO’s. How the hell did you manage that?
Apparently, my previous post wasn’t as clear as I would have liked. I hate that. So, for the benefit of Conservative Republican and others who might have misunderstood, let me elucidate.
Our government is, by design and long practice, neither a church or an agency of the church. It is a secular entity, with the responsibilities which are enumerated in the Constitution.
I believe that the forcible taking of money/chattels/possessions from one person in order to give it to another person – regardless of the circumstances – is immoral. It is theft, pure and simple. DJ, if I walked up to you, demanded that you give me 10 dollars, threatened you with harm if you did not, all for the purpose of giving it to someone who I decided needed it worse than you, you would be outraged. And rightfully so.
But, when our government does so we all simply acquiesce. Why? Good question. But, it’s still wrong. And now we have helpful fools like Jim Wallace who seem to have merged God and the Federal Government together into a single entity, telling us that it’s our “Christian Duty” to encourage our government to steal even more of our money in order to give it to others.
That would be bad enough, but (like almost everything it does) the Government does a horrible job of it! The waste, graft and corruption that permeate the various governmental assistance programs is nothing short of staggering. And that doesn’t include the sheer incompetence of most of those who administer the programs.
So, please forgive me if I react a bit strongly. Contrary to the council of Mr. Wallace and others, what our government does is not the work of the church, it’s antithetical to the work of the church. It’s corrupt, it’s unethical and it’s immoral.
I’m pretty sure that I didn’t vote for Trump for Pope, but to keep Hillary from being POTUS. And let’s be clear, Trump didn’t create the current climate. He is a symptom of it.
I am not a Republican, I am an Independent, I have found that neither party represents my beliefs and I support candidates not the Political Parties. Fat Albert, a few comments on your statement, the government in order to fulfill their designated roles of defense, representing us with other nations, delivering the mail, etc. which are given in the Constitution does need to collect taxes which means it will need to take from us and give to people to deliver those services. However, they also stated that direct taxation of the population was forbidden, with the 16th Amendment the Federal Government defined Income Tax as not being direct taxation.
That is what started what you are complaining about which is moving money from one group of citizens who do not work for the government to another group of citizens who are favored. The founding fathers stated that this would work until like the Roman Empire they figured out that they could use public funds to buy the public’s vote which is what is happening.
That said as a Christian I would rather have my own money in my pocket to determine how to invest or help others with it. I would rather pick which charities or individuals that need help and support and look at what they represent and decide on my own beliefs who I should help. However, the Federal Government by their taxation policies have taken that right from me to the extent that they have taken more money than is necessary for the programs outlined in the Constitution as being their duties and have passed laws to increase their areas of duty and responsibility. That has happened under Republican and Democratic reigns in government which is why I am an Independent.
Times:
I have no objection to the government paying its employees for their work (a workman is worthy. . . etc.) I think the government is overstaffed in many areas, but that’s a separate issue.
The method that the government uses to raise money is also a separate issue. At this point I am simply stating that the notion that letting the government steal from Peter to pay Paul is Immoral, unjust, and un-Christian. To claim that it’s our “Christian Duty” to encourage it to do so is to turn the teachings of Jesus backwards. Anyone that believes otherwise is delusional.
