Wow. I thought he was rising in the polls and had more money than the other candidates. I’m shocked to see that he is now having trouble raising money. From his campaign:
David, This is the email I really hoped I wouldn’t have to write.
You see, I just received an update from my campaign manager — the news is not good.
Let me be blunt: We are dangerously close to falling behind our November fundraising target, and I have less than 15 hours to turn it around.
I don’t know where else to turn…so, I’m turning to you.
I’ve asked my campaign manager to put together this special, secure link so we can personally track those who have stepped up at this critical time.
Will you click below to make a special contribution and stand in the gap to help us reach our November goal?

org/november-goal David, I’m sure you’ve seen the polls. My campaign is surging — not only nationally, but also in virtually every early primary state.
We must keep this momentum going.
Honestly, the only thing that will kill our momentum right now is falling short of our critical November fundraising target.
There is nothing Hillary Clinton, the liberal media, and the Washington Cartel would like more than to have me come up short in November and kill the energy driving my campaign.I’ve seen our campaign beat the odds before…I’m confident we can do it again. But to get there, I must have your immediate help with less than 15 hours to go until this important deadline expires.
Tomorrow my campaign manager will share with me who was able to step up at this critical time. David, I really hope to see your name on that list BEFORE tomorrow morning.
Will you click below — before you do anything else — and chip in at least $35 or as much as $50 or even $250 to help?
Please use this special, secure link prepared especially for you:

org/november-goal There are less than 15 hours until we close the books on Novemberfundraising, AND to close the gap, I’m asking each and every one of my best supporters to chip in now.
David, will you help?
For liberty,
Ted Cruz
I would have thought that his recent rise to number 2 in Iowa would have sent money his way. I guess the national polls showing him in fourth place, lagging behind Marco Rubio, are affecting his donations.
Surprising.
Brad Herritage says
David- What is you agenda here? All campaigns send out these messages!!
david jennings says
No agenda. Just passing along information. And no, not all campaigns send out messages saying they are having trouble fundraising.

I have gotten this email. Also a similar one from Huckabee and Carson.
I was surprised at Cruz begging for money, too. He has been getting great press coverage.
Don Hooper says
The one I got which included an event hosted by Allen Blakemore for Ted Cruz caused a lot of laughter in my home.
RPolitics4Fun says
Did you give Allen the nod and say if your late start without you?
Voter says
Thanks for the reminder. I need to make another contribution!
Ed Vidal says
David,
Ted’s fundraising is fine, but thanks for reminding us that we cannot take it for granted. Ted runs his campaign like a Baptist missionary society, in both spending and fundraising.
We should all go and donate at http://www.tedcruz.org, so that we can take back our country and make America great again.
America is in a sorry state when it has to rely on us wretched Cuban immigrants, victims of Kennedy’s fecklessness, incompetence and cowardice, to help restore it.
Lock and load!
Manuel Barrera says
Mr. Vidal I was correct,
I always wondered why Cubans did not stay and fight rather than flee. Maybe you can answer that?
Why is it Kennedy’s fault? Shouldn’t the people that live there fight there for their rights?
I have always marveled how Cubans claim they came here legally, they got here the same way the illegals did, they stepped on dry land. The only difference is the policy that is in place.
Cuban illegals can show up anywhere on land in the U.S. and immediately be allowed to enter the country. They get a work permit, social security card, public assistance for food and accommodations, medicare if eligible or medicaid. They are not, as refugees are, put in jail until their case is decided, but are immediately paroled, and after a year, can apply for permanent residency ( green card) and citizenship after 5 years. Children can go to school without fear of arrest, and college age children can enter the universities or armed forces without having to spend two years in a college or the military.
Dead beats and I am tired of supporting them because they were too scared to stay and fight.
Fat Albert says
Manuel,
I’m not sure that Kennedy WAS responsible – at least in an active fashion. I think, however, that we can all agree that his policies and actions in foreign affairs were often amateurish and ham-handed, and generally ineffectual. Often they ended up exacerbating the situation rather than ameliorating (much like our current President!)
As for whether Cuban refugees came here legally or illegally – they complied with the law. That means they were legal. The issue of fairness or equity is a different one entirely. You may disagree with a posted speed limit – and it may even be an unreasonable speed limit, but if you exceed that limit, you’re apt to receive a ticket.
Finally – to address your suggestion that the Cuban refugees should have stayed and fought – the same can be said of every migrant worker, or refugee from Latin America, not to mention the Middle East, Africa or the Far East. What would be your point?
Lawrence Person says
So your story is that Ted Cruz’s fundraising emails sound exactly like every other political fundraising email out there?
Stop the freaking presses.
This “we’re in danger of falling behind/only you can save us!” appeal is probably as old as direct fundraising email itself.
Next up: Big Jolly talks about “this one weird trick” that increases fundraising totals…
david jennings says
Geez Lawrence, where is your sense of humor?
bob42 says
My cat got a good laugh from the email. Regardless of how heavy his campaign war chest might be, the Cruz campaign is very well organized and has a significant presence in all of the important states. Somebody there knows what they’re doing.
