If you think that top Republicans in Texas are taking this election for granted, think again. US Sen. John Cornyn made his way to Angleton this morning to get out the vote for State Rep. Randy Weber in his bid to replace retiring Congressman Ron Paul in Texas CD14.

There was a good turnout, especially given a 10 am rally on Tuesday morning with little notice. State Rep. Dennis Bonnen introduced Mr. Weber, saying that he was a rock-solid conservative ally during their time together in the Texas Legislature. Mr. Weber then gave a short speech similar to the one he gave yesterday in Beaumont, and then he introduced Sen. Cornyn.

It’s interesting when a veteran politician such as Sen. Cornyn does these relatively small rallies – he knew most of the roughly 50 people that came out and the ones he didn’t remember knew him. He did a great job outlining why we need Rep. Weber to move to Washington, highlighting Rep. Weber’s opponent Nick Lampson’s prior votes for Nancy Pelosi for Speaker, his voting with her 80{997ab4c1e65fa660c64e6dfea23d436a73c89d6254ad3ae72f887cf583448986} of the time, and discussing the terrible impact that Obamacare will have on our healthcare system.

After the rally, Sen. Cornyn joined the Weber team at the Brazoria County early polling location on Hwy 35 in Angleton and talked to voters about the importance of voting for Rep. Weber. I thought that was pretty cool because while you often see politicians on the stump, you don’t often see them working the polls for another candidate. I guess that work ethic is one of the reasons that Sen. Cornyn is projected to be in a top leadership role in the US Senate.
