Tom Coleman Room
Shoreacres City HallWe are pleased to inform you that the Mayor’s Candidate Committee has selected three finalists to fill the position of Shoreacres’ Chief of Police.
- Roger Free
- Troy Harrison
- Curtiss Pope
These outstanding candidates were selected from more than 60 applicants over the last two months.
All three finalists have been presented to city council without ranking or recommendation. It is anticipated that city council will make their final selection for Chief of Police at a special meeting called by the Mayor for that purpose on Monday, January 20, 2014.
It is the Mayor and Council’s desire to have input from the community in the selection of our new Chief of Police. To achieve that goal each candidate has been asked to make themselves accessible for public inquiries.
To facilitate public access to the candidates the Mayor will host an informal reception where all three will be introduced. The reception will not be a council meeting. The one-hour reception has been scheduled for 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Saturday, January 11 in the Tom Coleman Room, Shoreacres City Hall, 601 Shore Acres Blvd. (entrance at the rear of the building).
You are invited and encouraged to attend the reception on Saturday to meet and visit with your candidates for Police Chief.
Each candidate will also have the opportunity to address city council at 6:00 p.m. Monday, January 20, 2014. This will be a special city council meeting, open to the public, and is proposed to be concluded with a vote selecting the successful candidate and authorizing his immediate employment.
