La Porte, TX – Thursday, August 18, 2011 – Today, Mike Jackson, State Senator from the 11th District and President of Force Corporation, an industrial construction and maintenance company, officially filed paperwork with the Federal Election Commission to establish a Committee to support his candidacy for the Republican nomination in the newly created 36th Congressional District. The District includes all or part of the following counties: Chambers, Hardin, Harris, Jasper, Liberty, Newton, Orange, Polk, and Tyler.
The 11th Senatorial District, which Jackson has represented since 1999, covers significant population centers in the 36th Congressional District including the cities of Deer Park, Pasadena, the Clear Lake area (home to NASA’s Johnson Space Center), Seabrook, and La Porte.
“Our nation, our economy, and the future of our children have suffered greatly under the misguided and damaging polices of Barack Obama,” said Jackson. “As a small business owner and conservative State Senator, I know our area deserves to have a Representative who will fight to stop Obama’s massive spending, massive debt, and excessive regulation that is plaguing our nation.”
A Small Business Owner and Limited Government Conservative
Jackson has been involved in the construction industry for over thirty- eight years and serves as President of Force Corporation, a family business started by his father. Force Corporation has over one hundred employees in addition to employing many contractors who perform industrial construction and maintenance work in petro-chemical plants and refineries, primarily in the greater Houston area.
As a limited government conservative in the Texas State Legislature, Jackson has received numerous awards for his leadership, including: 2011 Champion of Small Business from the National Coalition for Capital (NCFC); 2011 Taxpayer Advocate Award from Texans for Fiscal Responsibility; 2010 Citizen of the Year Award from the Southbelt-Ellington Chamber of Commerce; 2009 ABC Free Enterprise Champion from the Associated Builders and Contractors of Texas; and 2009 Champion of Free Enterprise from the Texas Association of Business.
Early Endorsement from Respected Local Leaders
Though the campaign has only started, Jackson is honored to have numerous conservative leaders already supporting his candidacy.
“Mike understands that to get America’s economy moving again and jump-start job creation we have got to get the boot of the federal government off the backs of our small business owners,” said Mayor Johnny Isbell of Pasadena. “I am proud to endorse him and know he will be a strong conservative voice for us in Congress.”
“America needs leaders who will stand up and say ‘NO’ to more spending, increased debt, and higher taxes that only threaten to damage job growth. Mike has been committed to standing in the way of government growth and he can bring this common-sense approach to work for us in Congress,” said State Representative Wayne Smith of Baytown.
“I have stood on the front lines to balance our budget here in Texas without raising taxes or putting a burden on our job creators,” continued Jackson. “We have an opportunity in 2012 to show Barack Obama the door and make a stand for less government, less spending, and a more Constitutional based government – I would be honored to carry this message to Congress for the people of the newly created 36th District.”

He's one of the good guys, very conservative, and a fiscal hawk. Good luck, Mike!
