Here is the text of the email that I received:
David,
In my opinion, Jared is misusing HCRP resources for his campaign.
I have never given this email address to Jared – I have only given it to the HCRP.
To me, this is an unfair advantage he has over the other candidates – as well as a misuse of my trust in giving the HCRP my email address, which is then given to a candidate for office. If the HCRP sends out an email on behalf of a candidate, that is different, but this email came from Jared’s campaign. Jared and the HCRP should now be forced to send out emails on behalf all other candidates and Jared should be called out on the carpet for misusing the trust of the people.
I agree completely. In fact, after receiving that email, I searched through my spam and, guess what? I too received the email. And although I would have gladly signed up for the list, the fact is that I did not. So where did Mr. Woodfill get his list?
Folks, this is serious stuff. Mr. Woodfill and the HCRP must come clean and quickly. Either they gave him the list, he took the list or they sold him the list. There is no other explanation. And whichever it is, the same exact option must be given to every single other candidate that wants to run in the Republican primary.
His list of endorsements on the email just became his list of embarrassments. Does Sen. Dan Patrick really want to endorse someone that takes this route?
For those of you that have not received the email, I’ve put it below. Because, although the campaign website does have a functioning email list, it still does not have any content. Instead, Mr. Woodfill continues to abuse the privileges he has as chairman by using the official Harris County Republican Party website as his personal campaign site. Totally unacceptable from a man that has demanded the resignations of others for less.
