Whether Kavanaugh is confirmed isn’t the significant issue facing us as a nation. We have a much more fundamental question to grapple with.
It’s not hyperbole to say this is a modern day Gettysburg. Lincoln rightly said we are a nation “conceived in liberty and dedicated to the proposition that all men are created equal.”
The confirmation process is a battle of whether that ideal still holds true, or is a person’s basic dignity dependent on their ideology?
The confirmation process has not been one where the parties heeded Martin Luther King’s warning “We must forever conduct our struggle on the high plane of dignity and discipline. We must not allow our creative protest to degenerate into physical violence.”
Are we still a nation that forgives? Are we still a nation that believes a person can change?
If we have lost that capability then we are not the country that Martin Luther King strove to achieve. Are we a nation that still believes in equality, or have become a nation where we are judged by the ideology we hold rather than the content of our character?

I trust there are no comments about this yet because pro-Trump patriots, and assorted Republican and conservative factions are all out celebrating this big, yuge win for America.
[pops top] This glass is for you Kavanaugh. In a test of wills with evil, you triumphed,
Hang on Gorsuch…….the AIR KAV is inbound on your position. Help is on the way!
The only thing left is to crucify the three women who bore false witness against a good man. They need to suffer for their actions. In the case of Ford, I think there’s a bigger conspiracy to ferret out and prosecute…..Ford’s BBFF (best beach friend forever,) ex FBI lawyer McLean, McLean’s lawyer own former high ranking Associate AG in the DoJ, the attack dog lawyers Feinstein attached to Ford, etc. At the very least, the FBI found witness tampering by McLean. Prosecute that just to get warmed up.
People need to go to jail for perjury and suborning perjury, and Kav needs to sue them all civilly for defamation of character.
I wish to remain anonymous says
I agree, there needs to be consequences for their horrid actions.

By “Gettysburg” do you mean ‘bloody climax to a Grand Treason’?
