From the Woodfill campaign this afternoon:
Dear Friends, Supporters and Republican Leaders,
As the early voting period winds down for the April 13th Runoff Election, our campaign keeps getting stronger. Today, the campaign raised over $25,000, including a generous contribution of $20,000 from Bob Perry. To date, Mr. Perry has generously contributed $35,000 to our campaign. I appreciate the confidence that Mr. Perry and so many of you have placed in our leadership. I appreciate the hundreds of you who have contributed your time, talent and treasure to the campaign.
I am humbled and grateful for your strong and solid support.
Who knows why Mr. Perry switched back? I’m sure the Hubbard campaign will be scratching their heads about it for some time. Ed has made some mistakes during the campaign, he isn’t perfect. Perhaps releasing the information that Mr. Perry had contributed caused Mr. Perry to think twice. Perhaps it was that Ed released a radio commercial yesterday featuring Natalie Arceneaux, of The Civil Right Online – definitely NOT a Republican,as she says constantly – that caused Mr. Perry to step back. Can’t blame him for that, most Republicans would hesitate after that – I know it shocked me. Who knows what it was?
What we do know is that it ain’t over until the fat lady sings, as the saying goes. So here is my advice to the Hubbard supporters: stop hunkering down and get to work. Admit that your candidate isn’t perfect, then get about the business of getting him elected because, as skillful as Mr. Woodfill is at counter-punching in his personal campaigns, he doesn’t have the skills to stop the decline of the Harris County Republican Party. He just doesn’t and that is that. Suck it up and get to work.
Donate if you wish but it is probably too late for any donation to do much good. What is more important is that you get your butt up off the couch, get out of the car, get off the computer, and tell someone how important this election is. Yeah, I know its hard, sticking your neck out, waiting for it to be chopped off, but you gotta suck it up and do it if you want conservatives to have a voice in Harris County. If I can do it, anyone can, trust me on that.
So what can you do? Well, walk next door for starters. If your neighbors didn’t vote in the Democratic primary, and they are registered, they are a potential vote for Ed. Drive them to the polls if you have to – after all, your money is on the line if Mr. Woodfill gets re-elected and the party continues its decline. Drive in the Rolling Tea Party on Sunday with your car covered in Hubbard signs – don’t worry about official ones, make some! Click on this link and tell the campaign that you want to participate in a phone bank. Take off work for a couple of hours Tuesday and work one of the 72 polling locations – the Hubbard campaign will be happy to have you.
Whatever you do, don’t just sit there and do nothing. If you are in Harris County, and you are a conservative (even if, like Natalie Arceneaux, you are not a Republican), then it is to your benefit to get out and work. You’d do it if your house payment was on the line. Or if your health care was on the line. Or if your tax bill was on the line.
Well, if you don’t, all those things are on the line. Just look back at the trends if you don’t believe me.
Not everyone has money to throw around like Bob Perry. But Bob Perry, as rich as he is, can’t do what you can do – convince your neighbor to do the right thing and vote for Ed Hubbard for Harris County Republican Party Chairman.
As a certain person named Reagan would tell you:
