- HB16 by Rep. Debbie Riddle
- HB112 by Rep. Patricia Harless
- HB186 by Rep. Charles Perry
- SB178 by Sen. Troy Fraser and others
Looks to me like freshman Perry and the Senators got it right, requiring PHOTO ID – no water bills, utility bills, etc. Rep. Perry listed Photo Voter ID as his top issue:
Voter ID
It’s unfortunate that our State Representative has voted with liberal special interests, and against protecting and securing our elections. I will author and vote for a bill that simply says you have to show a photo ID to vote. Currently, our elections are open to fraud by allowing illegal and illegible voters to vote.
Now that is following up on a campaign promise. I hope that Rep. Perry’s bill or Sen. Fraser’s bill will be adopted – there really isn’t a need for non-photo voter id.
Of course, the ‘news-ish’* organizations and the ‘progressive’ bloggers are already starting in with the meme that they want to follow throughout the upcoming session. From Ross Ramsey and the Texas Tribune (not sure what to call it now that Bill White has been thoroughly trounced but I’m sure that Cory will come up with something):
And it will be easier for proponents of nativist immigration legislation to win passage of bills that have been blocked in previous years.
What the heck does that mean? Nativist? Yeah, I know, code word for racist, I get it. But what the heck is racist about wanting clean and fair elections? Or securing the border? Or cutting costs by not providing services to non-taxpayers? These guys have had their way so long they can’t even see that they are biased. Or more likely, they don’t care because they want to move the electorate a certain way.
Lefty/Progressive blogger Stace Medellin at DosCentovos starts in on Rep. Riddle:
Riddle’s Racist Tirade Begins…
Thanks to Victor for the heads up on Riddle’s legislative racist rant, which began today. Riddle has filed the following anti-immigrant, anti-Latino legislation:
There isn’t a single thing that is racist in any of the bills Rep. Riddle filed yesterday. Not one.
But truth isn’t the objective for these guys. Winning at all costs, including lying, is. Don’t fall for it people. If you see legitimate media outlets fall for this stuff, call them out. It is the only way we can stop it.
* news-ish: Kevin Whited’s Cory Crow’s term for those fake news organizations set up by the Colorado Model to try and drive the news cycle narrative. They have a few legitimate news items that give them some sense of credibility but the bulk of their material is written to push the ‘progressive’ agenda – legitimate news organizations then follow along because of their shrinking staff and overall laziness. That is my definition, I’m sure Kevin has a better thought out one. Read about the Colorado Model at blogHOUSTON.net.
