Oh no! George Soros is giving Harris County DA candidate Kim Ogg some money!
Billionaire George Soros again has stepped into the Harris County district attorney’s race with a half-million-dollar advertising buy on behalf of Democratic candidate Kim Ogg.
If true, that would be a lot of money. Maybe it’s true, I really don’t know because the article in the Houston Chronicle is lacking any detail or source and it isn’t showing up on the 30 day campaign finance report for Ogg. We do know through public records that Ogg did schedule a lot of advertising on October 7th, just missing having to file it on the 30 day out campaign finance report. You can click here to see a list of those purchases. My guess is that it is either true or partially true.
Never one to miss an opportunity to distract voters for issues that actually matter in an election, Harris County DA Devon Anderson’s political consultant Allen Blakemore weighs in:
Incumbent Republican District Attorney Devon Anderson’s political consultant, Allan Blakemore, trumpeted the Soros ad buy, accusing Ogg of aligning forces seeking to buy the district attorney’s office.
“She has abandoned the values and standards of our community to become a puppet for those whose clear agenda is to corrupt the rule of law in Harris County,” Blakemore said.
Really Mr. Blakemore? Really??? No, not really. Blakemore knows that if he were to focus on his client’s performance, he’d have a losing campaign message. Distracting voters with big bad wolves like George Soros is the only shot he has of keeping the Harris County DA’s office in the hands of incompetent party hacks.
Blakemore’s client has demonstrated terrible judgement in actually running the office. His claim that her opponent has abandoned the values and standards of our community demonstrates the kinds of values and standards that he thinks our community has. Let’s take a walk down memory lane.
Did Kim Ogg let a late term abortion provider off the hook? Did Kim Ogg let Planned Parenthood off the hook for selling parts of little humans? Did Kim Ogg keep an innocent man on death row in jail longer than necessary after he was known to be innocent? Did Kim Ogg fail for months to disclose that thousands of items of evidence had been destroyed? Did Kim Ogg put a rape victim in jail to be beaten and further abused?
No, Mr. Blakemore, Kim Ogg did none of those things. Your client, Devon Anderson did. You can try to distract voters all you want to but the fact remains that your client has not provided good leadership at the Harris County District Attorney’s Office, encouraging an atmosphere of corruption and injustice for the citizens of Harris County.
Folks like Blakemore are successful because voters don’t pay attention and they allow themselves to be distracted, ignoring the plain truth in front of them. Don’t fall for that in this critical race in Harris County. Don’t be distracted, do the right thing and make a change at the Harris County District Attorney’s Office. Kim Ogg has actually fought for victims of violent crime while Devon Anderson jails them.
If you don’t believe me, listen to the mother of the rape victim that Devon Anderson put in jail:
In the Harris County DA race, use your vote to make a change. Tell consultants like Allen Blakemore that you refuse to let distractions get in the way of doing the right thing.
