I see that the publicist for George P. Bush, son of former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, nephew of former President George W. Bush, grandson of former President George H.W. Bush, and, oh, yeah, the most important part of his pedigree, half-Latino by way of his mother, is working overtime. Talk about wanting to gag when I read the first part of the first sentence of this Politico piece by Katie Glueck:
George P. Bush, a rising star on the Texas political landscape
Rising star my arse. Good grief, how do reporters look at themselves in the mirror every morning? Relocating from Florida to Texas, announcing that you’re going to run for office, not sure what, but some office, makes you a “rising star”?
This dude knows Texas about as well as Lindsay Lohan does. But apparently, his publicist knows how to take advantage of a crisis, using the tragic death of a war hero to pump up their man. It’d be sad if it weren’t so transparent and despicable.
Let’s hope that Republican primary voters use their good sense to send this dilettante back to Florida. Perhaps I’d think differently if he decided to start by campaigning for a Texas House seat and learn something about the state that he wants to lord over. Rumors are that he’ll jump in the race for Land Commissioner because presumably that would be the easiest for him to win. Can you imagine that? About the only thing he knows regarding land in Texas is that somewhere in his financial portfolio he has an oil well or three, given to him by pappy or someone.
Do the right thing, George P. Bush – take a minute or two to actually learn something about Texas before you come riding in on your white horse to save us. And drop the damn publicist that used the death of a hero to further your ambitions.

David-
Could not agree more… but our direct primary system bred this kind of political dynasticism from the very beginning. Watch George P. raise a bunch of money, campaign on fabricated issues, and win.

Well said…I too am very wary of George P. I dont even know what his political views are, because nobody is talking about that. The only things I here about him relate to his famous family and the color of his skin. Neither are things that I vote based on. If you can dig out some info on where he stands on the issues, I think it would serve Texas well.

I said the same thing on my blog. He’s not serious. Just a diletante who acts like he’s entitled.

you guys could not be more wrong and I am sad that so many ignore our lord's words in 1corinthians 11-18 and rush to judgement. This is false witness. He grew up in fort worth. he is a mexican's mexican which we desperately need.he served 2 tours in iraq. what is your problem that he is a bush/ did you check his education and accomplishments? Let me be clear, he is our only chance to not go BLUE. jarrod and the ego minded hcrp and state gop have neglected our base for way to long. do me a favor , I will arrange a lunch for you and I will pay. All I ask is that you print the truth afterwards. I am always a fan of yours; thus I am surprised by this irresponsible spraying of banter and then the pile on the mindless cave men. you are a leader, please do your homework and lead these people responsibly. Tha absolute LAST thing America, much less Texas, needs is to extend this rotten dynasty. Read the Pete Brewton book, “The Mafia, CIA & George Bush” to find out how these carpet baggers created, then plundered the S&L industry. Read G Edward Grifffins book, “The Creature From Jekyll Island” on the theft of our currency system by banksters with the Federal Reserve Act. Read “Fractional Reserve Banking Begat Faux Reality” for a short course on the despicable behavior of the worlds banking elite. Then vote AGAINST every member of this cabal. The Bush clan defines the term RINO….just say NO.
Mark says
He could be the second coming of Ronald Wilson Reagan and I wouldn’t vote for him. Political dynasties have brought us nothing but pain or ineptness. With each generation the sense of entitlement increases as the average IQ decreases. Just think how much better our country would be had Ted Kennedy never been elected. The third generation of Kennedys are barely smart enough to spoon-feed themselves. Just say no to dynasties!
Tom Zakes says
He went to Rice, so I don’t think you can say he
A) can’t spoon feed himself or
B) doesn’t know anything about Texas.
But he starts with 95{997ab4c1e65fa660c64e6dfea23d436a73c89d6254ad3ae72f887cf583448986} name ID, which is very helpful in a down ballot race.
